Birthmarks

Everyone has birthmarks and birthmarks. These are benign pigmented neoplasms that have a neuroectodermal origin. These are clusters of nevus cells in the dermis or epidermis. The scientific term used for this phenomenon is melanocytic nevi. They appear on the body, because the skin covers the genetic program accumulated by the previous generations.

In the Middle Ages, the presence of birthmarks on the skin was considered a diabolical mark, for which women often paid their lives (were burned at the stake). And in the 18th century, birthmarks became simply fashionable: artificial "flies" were applied to the faces of the first beauties of Europe. Today they almost do not pay attention, provided, of course, that they do not spoil the appearance of their owner or possessor.

Birthmarks appear on the skin immediately after the birth of the child or during the first year of life. Sometimes they disappear by about seven years. However, in most cases they remain for life. Perhaps the appearance of moles and birthmarks and at a later time, at almost any age. They have different shapes and sizes, differ in color (from dark brown to black-brown hue), their surface can be either smooth or uneven. Mass appearance of moles occurs at the time of puberty.

Birthmarks are of two types: pigmented and vascular. Pigmented spots are brown and almost black in color. Vascular - pale pink or red. In themselves, birthmarks are harmless, but it is possible in some cases their degeneration into a malignant formation (melanoma). If moles gradually begin to increase or change color, inflammation is noticeable or a change in their structure and shape is observed, it is necessary to consult a doctor.

Sometimes a so-called "white birthmark" may appear on the skin. In fact, this spot is not a birthmark. Its manifestation is associated with the disappearance of the melanin pigment. This is a skin disease, the cause of which is still not known. Perhaps this is due to disruption of the thyroid gland, adrenal gland, gonads. When these spots appear, you should consult a doctor who will help you choose the remedy for treatment.

Special care for birthmarks is usually not required. But they must be protected from damage, as they can provoke a degeneration into a tumor. If the stains are quite large, it is necessary to protect them from exposure to ultraviolet radiation if they stay in the sun for a long time. In such cases, do not even use the solarium. To avoid degeneration, melanoma can not be pulled from the surface of the birthmark of the hair, or it can be traumatized in any such way.

In some cases, when the stain starts to grow, causes discomfort or threatens health (it can turn into melanoma), removal of birthmarks is required. The oncologist must decide on the operation. Sometimes to such a radical way of fighting as removing resort and for cosmetic purposes. But for this there must be a good reason. It is recommended to remove birthmarks and spots on the scalp, on the palms, soles, in the natural folds of the skin, in the perineum, the hair-shaving zones. In other cases, surgical intervention is undesirable.

There are non-surgical methods of getting rid of birthmarks. This is laser therapy, cryotherapy and hormonal treatment.

Laser therapy is the most modern method, which allows painless removal of birthmarks without leaving scars and scarring. But this method can not bring out any kinds of spots. A proven method that has been used for quite some time now is cryotherapy (moxibustion with liquid nitrogen). The procedure is painless, it is carried out in several stages, as a result the spot disappears, but scarring is sometimes possible. Hormonal drugs (steroids) slow the growth of spots.

Desaturate and bring out birthmarks can and with the help of folk remedies. For example, with this well helps to cope with figs. Immature berries need to lubricate the skin or apply medicinal dressings on them until the dark spots disappear. You can also use the garden grass root juice.
