Agriculture of Brazil independently provides the country with food, moreover, the country is the leading exporter of grain crops of tropical crops. In agricultural sectors of the economy of Brazil employs about 30% of the economically active population of the country - it is more than 20 million people. Many agricultural crops produced in Brazil have large sales markets abroad , others are mainly grown for domestic consumption. In recent decades, the country has been actively developing industry related to agriculture. The state support of agriculture is actively carried out, therefore, its oldest branches respond to all modern demands from the national economy.

An example of such cooperation is the rapid expansion of sugarcane plantations on the north-east coast and in the state of São Paulo. The government program set the task of replacing gasoline, as produced from expensive imported fuel raw materials, with ethanol. For this purpose, the sugar cane processing plants were reoriented to produce a new type of environmentally friendly fuel. This program has started to be performed quite successfully and in the country for many years the cars working on ethanol are produced.

Among the export crops, Brazil's agriculture produces coffee most of all. It is the world's largest producer of coffee, it accounts for the bulk of its exports. The main "coffee" states - it's Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais, a little behind them Parana and Espiritu Santo. Also an important part of the export is soy and animal feeds prepared from it. By the number of harvests of soybeans, the states of Parana and Rio Grande do Sul are leading. For the production of export products, sugar cane is grown in the states of Minas Gerais and São Paulo, as well as in Pernambuco and Alagoas. For export, rice, cocoa and oranges are produced. The production of export crops in Brazil is greatly influenced by the geography of the world's agriculture.

For its own needs, Brazil's agriculture produces many important products, including cotton, beans, corn and wheat. In terms of exports of agricultural products, Brazil occupies the third place in the world after the United States and France. As for deliveries to the world market, Brazil firmly holds the first position. Also, in connection with the weakening of Cuba's position in the supply of sugar cane, Brazil, and this product has entered the world's leaders. As for the supply of cocoa and soy, it is the second largest in the world and is on the third place in the production of corn.

Still, agriculture in Brazil leads the world market for the collection of oranges and bananas and ranks first in the world among non-Asian countries for the supply of rice. Brazil's animal husbandry is growing at a rapid pace, which is mainly meat-oriented. It gives about 40% of the country's agriculture at a cost. At the end of the 20th century, there were more than 150 million head of cattle in Brazil. By the size of its livestock, Brazil lags behind only India.
