Arifon retard

"Arifon retard" has a diuretic, hypotensive effect.

The preparation includes indapamide (active substance), as well as auxiliary components: lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide, povidone.

Tablets "Arifon retard" biconvex, covered with a white film membrane.

The active component of the drug is enclosed in a special carrier matrix, which ensures a uniform controlled release of it into the gastrointestinal tract.

Indapamide belongs to the group of sulfonamide derivatives, its pharmacological properties are similar to those of thiazide diuretics that inhibit the reabsorption of sodium ions of the cortical segment in the nephron loop.

"Arifon retard" is indicated for arterial hypertension.

No medication is prescribed for persons with hypersensitivity to the active substance, other derivatives of the sulfonamide or to any auxiliary component of the medicament. Contraindicated "Arifon retard" with a deficiency of kidneys in severe form, hepatic encephalopathy or serious violations of liver functions, as well as hypokalemia.

The drug is not recommended for administration to persons suffering from lactose intolerance, malabsorption (glucose-galactose), galactosemia.

With special care, "Arifon retard" should be used in disorders of liver and kidney functions, water-electrolyte balance, weakness in patients, or in the appointment of patients with combined therapy with antiarrhythmic drugs, as well as diabetes mellitus, hyperparathyroidism.

It is not recommended to use the drug for children under the age of eighteen, due to the lack of clinical data in sufficient quantities.

During pregnancy, as a rule, diuretics should not be prescribed. Do not use these drugs in the treatment of physiological puffiness in prenatal period. It should be noted that diuretic drugs can provoke fetoplacental ischemia and lead to disorders in fetal development.

In view of the fact that indapamide has the property of excreted in milk, Arifon is not recommended during lactation.

According to clinical and laboratory indicators, most adverse events have a dose-dependent character.

Typical negative effects are:

  • Paresthesia, dizziness, fatigue, headaches;
  • Anemia (aplastic, hemolytic), leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis;
  • Lowering blood pressure, arrhythmia;
  • Nausea, pancreatitis, dry mouth, vomiting, constipation;
  • Kidney failure;
  • Violations of hepatic function;
  • Increased sensitivity of the skin, more often in predisposed to asthmatic and allergic conditions, maculopapular rash, hemorrhagic vasculitis, angioedema, urticaria.

The drug should be taken orally, washed down with liquid, without chewing. The daily dosage is one tablet. It is recommended to take in the mornings.

In the treatment of hypertension, an increase in dosage does not increase the antihypertensive effect, but increases the diuretic effect.

When prescribing a drug, elderly patients need to control the level of creatinine in accordance with their weight, age and sex. With normal or slightly upset kidney function, patients in old age are allowed to prescribe medicines in a dosage of one tablet in 24 hours.

Very high doses of indapamide (up to forty milligrams) do not have toxic effects.

There is no violation of psychomotor reactions under the influence of substances in the Arifon Retard compound.
