What is the national composition of Russia today?

One of the most multinational countries in the old days was the Soviet Union. Basically, it was attended by representatives of the indigenous population of the state. Of course, there were a small number of emigrants, part of the students, part of the guests of the country.

In the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics there were 15 union republics. In addition, there were autonomous republics. Despite all their multilingualism, diversity, people treated with respect for each culture. At the very least, it was reprehensible to openly declare its disdain, even to a small nation. This offense was punishable by law.

After the collapse of the USSR , several new states were formed. And the largest of the formerly included in its membership of the republic began to be called Russia. The national composition of this country, although it has undergone changes, is still one of the widest in the world.

It should start with the fact that directly Russian people in the country live only 80%. And then this number includes Cossacks and Pomors. And if we look more closely at the genealogical trees of many families, it becomes clear that Russians began to be called Russians because they had a choice between their mother and father's nationality. The concept of "purely Russian blood" now practically does not exist, most Russians are a mixed Russian-Mordovian or Russian-Chuvash nation. Widely represented and the descendants of Russian unions with Tatars and other nationalities.

The national composition of Russia includes the Tatars (about 4% of the total population of the country). This nation ranks second in terms of the population in Russia after the Russians. Then it should be noted Ukrainians (2%), Bashkirs and Chuvashes (1.15% each).

The ethnic composition of Russia is also represented by Chechens, Armenians and Avars. The indigenous inhabitants of Russia, formerly a fairly large community, such as the Mordva and the Jews, today are inferior in number to the above-mentioned Armenians and Avars, who are an alien population.

After the Mordovians in these lists appear Kazakhs, Azerbaijanis and Dargins, who also for the most part came to work in Russia.

The national composition of Russia includes 180 nations and nationalities. Almost two thirds of all nations of Russia are little-known Russians because of their small numbers. What, for example, can you say about Yezidis, Rutulians, Andes, Assyrians?

The national composition of Russia and so small nations as the south, which in 1919 there were 19 people, are included in the national composition of Russia, and by 2010 there were only 1. Of the Urum-Greeks there were also 1 person out of 54 registered in 2002.

There are three more Mennonites and Kereks in the country, and four Bagulal people. There are nationalities represented in Russia by 6 or 7 people. For example, just Astrakhan Tatars (there are only seven of them!).

A table of population growth deserves a separate discussion. The Russian nation is steadily decreasing: in 2010 there was registered a minus growth (decrease) in the amount of 4872211 people, which is 4.2% of the population. The percentage of Belarusians (35.46%), Germans (34%), Jews (31.81%), Karelians (34.85%), Finns, Latvians, Estonians and Lithuanians is decreasing in approximately the same quantities. But the huge figures of growth are surprised by the demographers of Kirghiz (225, 14% !!!), Uzbeks (135.82% !!) and Tajiks (66.73%), also representing the national composition of the population of Russia.

The main problem of today's Russia is not its diverse national composition, but relations between nationalities, the emergence of interethnic conflicts, the trampling of cultural and ethical traditions of the country by visitors.

Yes, there are a lot of questions after getting acquainted with these data from the patriot of Russia, and along with them a lot of thoughts arise about what needs to be done in order to correct the current peak situation.
