Exhibition "Soviet childhood" (Museum of Moscow): an excursion into the past

Children and adults live in different worlds. Those who are older, in priority work, participation in public life, talk about politics, care about the future. Children - toys, swings, "Mothers-daughters", "Cats-mice", tricycles, first prescriptions and "Primer".

Childhood in peacetime remains a childhood, regardless of the political system, the ideological state of the state, the financial situation of parents, other circumstances that are fundamentally important for the older generation.

On the past of the Soviet Union can be responded in different ways, but it is unlikely that anyone will argue with the fact that children born in the 60-80s of the XX century, still were happy.

For all those who are nostalgic for the past years or just interested in the history of a great country, until March 15, the exhibition "Soviet childhood" (Museum of Moscow).

The idea of the exposition

The event was organized by Vladimir Kuznetsov, Irina Karpatova and artist Alexei Kononenko. Curators have set themselves the goal not only to collect under one roof toys, books, household items of Soviet times, but to show that the life of young citizens of the USSR was rich and bright.

Description of the exhibition

In the country of the Soviets a small child was told that he "walked on foot". Similarly, the exhibition "Soviet childhood" was drawn up. The Moscow Museum at the entrance was decorated in such a way that the visitors did go under the table. Having overcome a small obstacle, children and adults found themselves in the realm of toys. Guests were greeted with plastic Pinocchio and crocodile Gena, celluloid dolls, dolls, strollers, a children's sewing machine, tricycles, cars with a pedal drive.

The crystal dreams of Soviet children - lunar rovers with remote control, tablets, which were drawn with plastic chopsticks, table games with an electric bulb, toy sets for tea drinking evoked nostalgic memories and delighted all visitors.

The main holiday of the children of the whole country was the New Year. The houses were decorated with Christmas trees, kindergartens, schools and out-of-school institutions were invited to merry morning performances. A Christmas tree with Soviet-era toys was also shown to visitors. The time-car exhibition "Soviet childhood" reminded me of the time machine. The Museum of Moscow for a while is back in the past.

The absolute majority of the children of the Soviet Union went to bed after the television program "Good Night, Kids!", Were brought up on the films "Old Man Khottabych", "Adventures of Electronics", etc. Visitors had the opportunity to see the legendary Filu, Pig, Stepashka and Karkushu Cartoons and films made in the USSR.

In a separate room, the school class was imitated. Desks with hinged covers, pioneer ties, badges, drums, horns, school uniforms, notebooks with blots - part of life that is not forgotten.

Part of the exhibition space was designed in the form of a city apartment of the times of socialism. Every thing, be it mittens on an elastic band, a plastic truck or a night pot under the bed, has real owners, stores the energy of Soviet people. Those whose childhood and youth passed in the USSR made it possible to feel a special atmosphere, the spirit of the era, the exhibition "Soviet childhood". The Moscow Museum has shown to all visitors how happy the children of the times of the Soviet Union were.

The special concern of Soviet teachers and parents was the organization of leisure for young citizens of a large country: theaters of the young spectator worked in many cities of the Soviet Union, children's sessions and lectures were held in cinemas, and children developed their abilities and talents in the Children's Creativity Houses. Visitors of the exhibition had an opportunity to see the dolls of the famous theater S. Obraztsov, costumes of clowns of the Moscow circus, other props.

Organizers of the event offered to try candy, cookies, ice cream and drink "Buratino" cooked according to the Soviet GOST.

Exhibition "Soviet childhood": reviews

The main impression of those who got acquainted with the exposition was nostalgia. Quoting statements like "But I bought my child, go to a kindergarten", "We had the same service with our neighbors" or "Every Sunday, we have to sew up horror for school clothes with collars and cuffs".

For modern children, the exhibition in Moscow "Soviet childhood" - history, bright fragments of the life of popes and mothers. In the era of GIT-TVs, computers, ballpoint pens, the Internet, it is very curious to know what the blotter was intended for, with how impatiently they waited for a ten-minute cartoon on a lampholder TV on legs, as they dreamed of a new typewriter or a doll saying "Mama".

As the shortcomings of the exhibition, the authors of the reviews note the non-professional organization of space and a large queue in the wardrobe.

Children of the Soviet era: who are they?

Those who were born in the 90s can get the impression that their mothers and dads kept going, sing songs and seriously dream of growing up as builders of communism. In fact, ideology rarely penetrated the life of Soviet people. Babies also went to kindergarten, played dolls and cars, quarreled, reconciled, cried, laughed and dreamed. Teenagers and young men explained themselves in love, reflected on life, kept diaries, went to construction teams and to potatoes.

Soviet children did not have even half of what is available to children today (24-hour children's channels, rest on foreign resorts, new-fangled gadgets, etc.). However, the boys and girls of the country of the Soviets were happy, because they had loving parents, friends, various toys and really tangible confidence in the future. It was this simple and carefree children's life in the USSR demonstrated at the exhibition "Soviet childhood".
