We decorate the facade: plaster

There is no doubt that each owner wants to make his house original. Decorating the facade, the plaster not only makes it unique and memorable, but also allows us to warm the building. In the modern construction market, you can purchase different types of plaster, which have advantages over other finishing materials. It is customary to distinguish decorative plaster for facades, depending on its foundation.

Types of decorative plaster :

  1. Polymer or acrylic - vapor-proof, frost-resistant and plastic. When it is produced, synthetic resins are used. Such a plaster of the facade of the house, the photo of which can be seen below, is quite common.
  2. Mineral or lime - the cheapest kind of plaster. It is not subject to the fatal effects of fungus or mold. The basis of the mixture is cement and additional additives, which alter the absorbent properties of the material.
  3. Silicate. Such plaster is vapor-proof, strong and antistatic. When it is produced, liquid fractions of potassium glass are used. It is based on polymeric compounds.

Advantages of plaster for the facade

The plaster applied to the facade provides air circulation, protects against moisture and prevents the formation of fungus. Depending on the filler, decorative plasters can also perform heat and sound insulation. Facade plaster allows you to change the color and texture of the finish, if necessary. You can show your imagination and choose different design options. The facade of the plaster is applied according to a certain technology and allows to obtain different surfaces.

Conditions for plaster application

In order to finish the facade qualitatively, it is necessary to observe certain conditions. First of all, you need to prepare the surface, or rather, dismantle the old plaster, repair all the cracks, after cleaning the wall from dust and carefully moisturize. The next step is to prepare the mixture according to the instructions given on the package. Only after this it is necessary to apply a ready mix.

Technology of plaster application

The technology of facade plastering assumes the fulfillment of certain conditions. It is impossible to apply such repair actions on a newly erected wall due to the fact that the plaster can crack when the building shrinks. Remember that the concrete surface and gypsum solution react, and the plaster will swell and eventually disappear. In addition, the gypsum, penetrating the wall, will simply destroy it. In order to prevent this, a lime mortar with a thickness of at least 4 mm should be applied to the wall. The thickness of the layer of plaster applied at a time should not exceed 2-3 cm. If it is necessary to apply a thick layer, this should be done in several stages with an interval of 2-3 days. Grouting the finished surface can begin several hours after the application of the plaster, when the solution has not yet solidified completely. If you start early, the solution will fall off the layers from the wall, if it's too late - the plaster will be too rigid, there will be mounds and hollows on the wall and it will not be possible to move the mass from one place to another and thereby level the wall.

Selected on the facade plaster should not only meet the preferences of the owners, but also be environmentally friendly, safe for humans.
