Types of decorative plaster, photo

As you know, plaster is one of the important elements in the repair. It serves to create a perfectly flat surface. Apply it before finishing. But more recently, traditional plaster has been replaced with decorative plaster. Next, we'll figure out what the coverage is. Also, the article will list the main types of decorative plaster.

General information

In addition to its external appeal, all types of decorative plaster have many advantages. This is what distinguishes the material among others. All types of textured and decorative plaster include a liquid base (simple water acts as it), filler (lime, granite or marble chips, sand, etc.), as well as a polymer binder. Materials can be used for finishing a wide variety of surfaces. As usual, types of decorative plasters have the ability to mask defects in walls and ceilings. The materials can be made of brick, concrete, wood, plasterboard and other surfaces. With this decorative plaster can be processed and curved shapes. One of the undoubted advantages of the material is its plasticity. Due to this quality of the surface can be given different outlines. Some types of decorative plaster (photo works can be seen below) can be used to "sculpt" all kinds of patterns and figures directly on the wall. Depending on what is expected to result, a variety of materials (shells, pebbles, mica, etc.) can be added to the mixture to form "bulk" surfaces. It should be noted that this "versatility" made decorative plaster one of the most popular coatings. The material can be used both for internal and external works. So, there are special types of facade decorative plaster.

Classification

There are different types of decorative plaster for different parameters. In particular, the material is classified according to the type of filler, binder element, forming method. This is not all the parameters by which the types of decorative plasters differ. Methods of applying the material are also different for each type. One of the main criteria by which the classification is carried out is the type of filler. Next, consider the types of decorative plaster for the walls separately.

Popular stuff

Today, as practice shows, the most widely spread is textured plaster. One of the advantages of this coating is its relatively low cost. As fillers in the compositions use small stones, mica, mineral crumb, wood fibers. Thanks to these components, the surface turns out to be a three-dimensional, 3D effect. Undoubtedly, this coating looks much better than just a wallpapered wallpaper or painted ceiling. To reinforce the effect, it is often necessary to use textured rollers and special stamps.

Homogeneous coating

Such a surface can be created using structural types of decorative plaster. "Bark beetle" is another name for this material. It is due to the fact that the filler particles (fine-grained additives) give the surface the appearance of the old tree. Structural types of decorative plaster for walls make it possible to create not only a uniform coating, but also a mosaic effect. Fraction of fillers is much larger than that of standard material.

Effective coating

Venetian decorative plaster is considered today one of the most "rich" species. When making the material, marble chips are used. As a rule, such a coating can be found in interior decoration in classical and antique styles. Due to the homogeneity of the composition, the material is an excellent basis for creating magnificent masterpieces. But it must be noted that special skill and knowledge are needed to apply this coating.

Material for exterior decoration

On the market today are a variety of types of decorative plaster facades. The material in its composition can have a variety of fillers. The main differences that these types of decorative plasters possess (photo of some coatings can be seen in the article) are high performance properties, resistance to temperature changes, water and soundproofness. Due to its excellent thermal insulation properties, external appeal, as well as the ability to protect and strengthen the facade, such plaster is rightfully won by the recognition of professionals in the field of construction and finishing.

Environmentally friendly coating

This category includes gypsum plaster. Usually this material is finished with concrete and brick surfaces. The composition of the mixture includes a gypsum base and some polymer additives. Among the main advantages that this coating possesses, it is necessary to name high durability, plasticity, ecological compatibility. In addition, the material allows you to create the most smooth surfaces.

Types of decorative plaster: the advantages of coatings

The material allows you to recreate different surfaces. So, for example, this or that kind of decorative plaster is used for decorating walls under the antiquity, imitating onyx, marble, granite, wood, fabric, natural limestone, animal skin. With the help of the material, you can create original artistic bas-reliefs. Undoubted advantage of the coating is a huge selection of different shades, the ability to pick up almost any pattern. All types of plaster for decorative finishing have a high resistance to mechanical stress. The treated surface subsequently does not require special care, does not fade, it is easy to clean, resistant to fire. Before applying the plaster, the foundation does not require special preparation. Small cracks and irregularities can not be closed, because the material is able to hide them. As practice shows, the decorative coating does not absorb odors. Some formulations also have protective properties, preventing the appearance of condensation, corrosion and mold.

Decorative plaster: types of invoices, photo

Today, materials are produced with a certain size (fraction) of the filler grain. The texture of the plaster is an exceptionally aesthetic parameter that does not affect the durability, strength and other performance characteristics. There are two main categories:

  • Traditional (old generation). The depth of their texture is up to 5 mm. The coating can be made using both traditional and modern mixtures.
  • New ones. In this case, modern decorative plaster is used.

Types of invoices that can be performed with new materials are as follows:

  • "Mosaic".
  • "Kameshkovaya".
  • "The bark beetle."

Let's consider each type separately.

The most common option

The most popular today is plaster "Bark beetle". The coating can be performed in various ways. Types of decorative plaster application:

  • Cross.
  • Circular.
  • Horizontal.
  • Vertical.

You can also dream up and process the surface of your own free will. Facade plaster of a modern type for painting can be emphasized by the addition of several colors, glaze and other techniques. This will significantly improve the appearance of the coating. Making the texture of "bark beetle" is done by trowelling the plastic layer of the layer with the thickness of the filler grain. Depending on the direction of movement of the tool, the pebbles present in the mixture begin to scratch the coating. As a result, an invoice is formed.

"Coated" coating

This plaster is considered universal. With its help, various patterns are executed, carved multicolored drawings "sgraffito", bas-reliefs of shallow depth. The material is also used to create traditional textures of "fur coat", "peas" and others. The "pebble" coating itself is a surface covered with densely crumbs, the size of which is 1-3 mm. Application can be carried out with a trowel and spatula, textured rollers, brushes and other tools that can be smeared, scratched, and create intricate prints.

"Mosaic" coating

This texture is radically different from the others. It is performed in one way, in which a transparent and even surface is created. The coating contains granules of stone (natural) crumb of different (or one) rocks of high strength minerals. According to many experts and buyers, this plaster is considered the most beautiful. It is coated with a single layer and wiped with a special tool. The astringent component is completely transparent. In it, from all sides, a stone crumbles through. This coating does not cover with varnish, do not paint. Next, consider the main types of application of decorative plaster.

The method of "spraying"

This is the easiest way to create a relief on the surface. After the first layer has dried, a second layer is applied. In order to get a relief surface, you can use a variety of devices, for example, a broom. It should be taken in one hand, in the other - a stick. The broom is dipped in the solution. Then they knock on the stick so that the spray hits the wall. On the surface will be formed flakes, the size of which will depend on the density of the mixture and the broom itself. The surface can be pre-painted. For example, it can be green, and the spray - white. Approximately the same is the "Italian" finish. But here after the cover layer is applied, without waiting for it to dry out, immediately apply a second one. If the previous one was, for example, blue, then the next one can be white. The second layer must overlap most of the first. While the coating has not hardened, it is smoothed.

Creating a relief trowel

To form the original surface, you can use not only the usual tools. After applying a covering layer on the trowel, a little solution should be put. Further light movements plaster is applied to the substrate. At the same time, an original drawing is formed.

"Multilayered" coating

The textural method of plaster coating allows to create a coating in antique style. In this case, the material is stacked in several layers. After leveling and drying, the coating is painted.

Hatching

This method is used to create a relief surface on fresh plaster. The coating in this case is treated with a metal brush. Then the surface must be dried within 24 hours. After this, using a rag, spatula or sponge, remove plaster elements that do not hold properly on the base.

Stamping with a roller

This is another popular method of applying decorative plaster. Using a special roller with a pattern, you receive relief images on the surface. If there is no such tool, you can use the usual one. On a simple platen cut out a picture or simply wrap it with a rope. In the latter case, after such a punching, a surface with a pattern resembling grass stems will be obtained.

"Sgraffito"

This coating technique is more complex than described above. However, you can also do it yourself. To create a decorative coating, plaster layers of different colors are applied. Gamma is chosen according to one's own preferences. It should be remembered that the surface should be in harmony with the surrounding interior. To create a drawing, in the upper layer, cut out certain sections of the stencil. Using pieces or scrapers, pieces of plaster are removed. If you remove a lot of material from the top layer, the remaining coating on the background of the underlying looks like an applique. If you delete a small amount, the picture will be shaded. You can apply this coating to the entire wall. Also, using this technique, you can create original panels.

Finally

There are many kinds of decorative plaster, as well as methods of its application. The material describes the most popular of them. In general, the work on finishing the premises both from the outside and from the inside can be completely carried out independently. However, some materials require certain knowledge and special adaptations. Mixtures in which there are large granules, it is recommended to use when decorating surfaces from the outside. Fine-grained plasters are used when working with walls inside the room. In the latter case, the surfaces are not so rough.
