Elevator unit and its function

Quite often when calculating the heating of a residential house, the question arises about what a heating elevator is. If to say in simple language, the elevator unit of heating is a water-jet pump that increases the water pumping in the internal heating system of apartments due to pressure drops at the entrance to the heat point. Speaking more simply, 5 cubic meters of water were taken from the heat network , and more than 12 cubic meters were supplied to the heating system of the apartments. In this case, the question arises as to how this increase was obtained.

If an elevator unit is present at the heat station that provides heat to your housing, then it means that your heating system is supplied with very warm water. Its temperature can be up to 150 degrees Celsius, while on the street the temperature can be equal to 30 degrees below zero. In pipes, superheated water is under high pressure, so it does not boil there and does not evaporate. However, water with such a temperature should not be fed into heating batteries, as they can be burned in case of touching or breaking them, as some batteries, for example, cast iron, do not tolerate large temperature changes. And in our time, polypropylene pipes are used more often for heating, the water temperature in which should not exceed 95 degrees Celsius, moreover, in this case the period of their operation will not exceed one year.

The elevating unit of the heating system with the elevator is very hot water, which is supplied from the boiler room, cools down to normal temperature and delivers to the heating system of the housing. How does this cooling happen? The elevator unit mixes the hot water that is supplied from the pipeline, and cooled down, which flows from the building from the return pipeline.

Thus, a good saving is obtained. If the elevator system is used in the heating system, it takes a small amount of hot water, which flows through the pipeline from the boiler room, mixing it with the cooled, flowing from the return pipeline, and the second time serving in the apartment. Of course, with such heating, some temperature is lost, but the elevator causes water to flow much more quickly through the heating system of a residential building, resulting in not a significant difference in temperature between risers between apartments in which hot water comes first and apartments that receive Heat last.

And if there was no elevator unit or if its nozzle was thrown out, then the residents of the first apartments would have very hot heating batteries , which would result in them having to open all the windows and doors even in winter with a severe frost. And tenants of the last and in particular corner apartments would be frozen even at the slightest drop in air temperature. Quite often it happens in reality.

Thus, the main purpose of the elevator in the heating system is to simultaneously lower the temperature of hot water by mixing it with a cold one, and a significant increase in the amount of water that is supplied from the boiler room to the residential apartments.
