How to build a coop by yourself?

Variants of how to build a chicken coop with their own hands set. Much depends on your wishes and possibilities. When designing a chicken coop with your own hands, you need to be guided by how many birds you plan to breed and what climatic conditions you live in.

Let's formulate a number of tips - how to build a coop for yourself, for those whose squares are allowed to "turn around" at home. It is advisable that the construction of the hen house with their own hands is done taking into account a number of necessary conditions.

The area under construction must be flat and dry. Ideally, if there is a slight slope to the south, so that the water from the surface can quickly drain, allowing the rapid drying of the soil. It is desirable to place the building facade in the south-east or south direction. The temperature acceptable for these birds varies from -2 to +27 degrees, so it is necessary to insulate the structure so that the temperature fluctuations do not go beyond these temperature limits. The floor, doors, ceilings and walls should be insulated exactly enough to provide an optimal microclimate and regime, creating comfort for birds. It is important, when carrying out the design and construction of the hen house with your own hands, to think about how and where to store the inventory and feed.

Carrying out the construction by oneself, it is desirable to choose the most economical material for the construction. But, at the same time, it should be as low as possible low-conductivity. For walls it's a good idea to buy an adobe, and it's better to make a ceiling with a tree, but it will be necessary to smear it with a mixture of clay, straw and sawdust. Doors, as a rule, put their own hands in a chicken coop. For the winter period they will need to be insulated from the outside. Not bad, if you make a gable roof, because such a chicken coop with their own hands will simultaneously serve as a small warehouse where it will be possible to store roughage and litter.

We should not forget that the temperature regime of chicken content is important and has a direct impact on the productivity of birds. The colder the conditions of detention, the less eggs you can take off, because the food consumed by the chickens will go to their warming. It is important to remember that chicken can quickly frostbite. If the temperature drops slightly, but, nevertheless, is below zero, then their crests and earrings can freeze. You can, of course, lubricate them with petroleum jelly, but it is more correct and practical to create the necessary conditions by creating a temperature regime at the level of 15 degrees. It is at this temperature that your chickens will increase their productivity. At a higher temperature, the number of eggs is rapidly declining, because they are thirsty, and on the shell this factor will be adversely affected, since it will become much thinner.

When building a chicken coop with your own hands, it is worth paying special attention to the humidity and illumination of the room. If the humidity is low, there will be a need for an irrigation system, and at high ventilation. The light regime, optimal for the content of these birds, sometimes needs to be artificially brought to 14 hours, since a light day, for example, in autumn is much less. To achieve this result, lamps are hung from the floor two meters high. In a small area, one 60 W bulb is sufficient. Using artificial lighting, one should take into account this feature: for laying hens, the longitude of the day needs to be increased, but for growing chicks the duration of daylight is not recommended.

When designing the dimensions of construction, it is necessary to know that placing them on a floor with a deep litter, the permissible density is 5 chickens / 1 square meter. M, and placing them on the shelves - 10 chickens / 1 sq.m.

No less interesting is that these birds react peculiarly to color shades. The soothing effect on them produces orange and green shades. Feeders made in red can attract more attention than yellow ones. A granular feed, preferably chosen for them in blue shades, but at the same time, the blue color is associated with darkness.
