The causes and symptoms of acute cholecystitis

To date, many are interested in the question of what the main symptoms of acute cholecystitis look like. After all, statistical data confirms that almost every fourth patient of the surgical department gets to the hospital with this diagnosis. So why does the disease occur and are there effective methods of treatment?

Acute cholecystitis: causes of the disease

Cholecystitis is a disease accompanied by inflammation of the gallbladder. Such a violation can have several causes. Nevertheless, in most cases, the cause of the inflammatory process is cholelithiasis, as a result of which the bile ducts overlap with a stone. Symptoms of acute cholecystitis arise from the penetration of infection into the bladder, along with a violation of the normal outflow of bile.

In approximately 15% of cases, inflammation is the result of bending or lengthening of the ducts, which also disrupts the normal secretion of the secretion.

In addition, the risk factors include severe conditions, including extensive burns and sepsis. In some cases, cholecystitis develops after surgery on the organs of the abdominal cavity. The risk of gallbladder inflammation increases in people with autoimmune diseases.

Statistics show that women of the age of 45 are more likely to be affected by this disease.

The main symptoms of acute cholecystitis

Such a disease begins sharply with cramping pain on the right side. And as the disease develops, seizures become more and more long, and soreness is more intense. There is an increase in temperature to 37.5, and in more severe cases and up to 40 degrees. Weakness, dizziness, lethargy, dry mouth, frequent vomiting are also symptoms of acute cholecystitis. In severe forms of the disease, bloating, as well as eructations, and sometimes jaundice of the skin, are observed.

Acute cholecystitis and diagnostic methods

Seizures can have different duration (from several hours to several days). But in any case, a patient with such symptoms should be rushed to the hospital - self-medication here will not help, but will only complicate the situation.

In a medical institution it is necessary to take blood tests (the disease is accompanied by an increase in the number of leukocytes) and to undergo some research. Differential diagnosis of acute cholecystitis can be complicated, since such symptoms are also accompanied by hepatic colic, perforated gastric ulcer, appendicitis, pancreatitis. In any case, only after the diagnosis has been made, treatment can be started.

Acute cholecystitis: surgery or conservative methods of treatment?

In fact, to virtually cure a disease, surgery is almost always required. Exceptions are only those cases when the inflammation is not associated with a violation of the normal outflow of bile. In the first few hours, patients are given antispasmodics that eliminate pain, as well as antibiotics to fight infection. After the symptoms become weaker, the patient is prescribed an operation, during which the gallbladder is removed
