The Akhmat Arena Stadium in Grozny

"Akhmat Arena" is the largest football stadium in Grozny. It was built in 2011 and accommodates 30.5 thousand fans. On his home matches regularly holds the football club "Terek".

Construction of a stadium

In 2004, funds were allocated from the federal budget for the appearance of the Akhmat Arena stadium. Terrible enthusiastically took this news, the project was promptly made, and in 2006 the work began.

The stadium is named after Akhmat Kadyrov , a Chechen politician and religious figure. The father of Chechnya's current leader, Ramzan Kadyrov.

Akhmad Kadyrov tragically died on May 9, 2004. The tragedy occurred on one of the stands, on which were located the honorable guests, the leaders of the republic and the guests. Thousands of people gathered on the occasion of Victory Day. In the morning, there was a terrorist attack. As a result of the explosion, together with Kadyrov, 6 more people were killed, more than 50 were injured.

Stadium today

A grand opening
