Sliding gate - popularity is growing

On the old, long-lived streets of the city, the sliding gates are still rare. I know one colleague from work who lives in such a settlement - here he has already prepared everything for the installation of such sliding gates. Well, I saw a couple of houses with a collapsible gate on such streets.

Everywhere there are swing gates, often - still old, skewed. Those that are newer are already made from corrugated board. Still there are aluminum roller shutters, but this is as a garage door, if the garage is built along the red line, and the other gate is not provided. Once I saw even a gate from slate.

So I was surprised to learn that in one Zaporozhye company the sliding gates are manufactured for 15-20 pieces per month. And this is only on one firm. I understand that the city of Zaporozhye is quite large. But the old settlements with private houses do not seem to fit into such statistics on replacing the swing gates with the sliding ones, they fall off. There are only new streets, where entirely three-four-story cottages. In some of these areas, and two gates are installed - one in front of the garage, the other - actually entering the yard. Well, even suburban settlements, where a large area of the house is also built on new streets. But still, I would never have thought that the sliding gate in Zaporozhye required so much.

Rolling gates are more expensive than swing gates in any case. The price reflects the high cost of the hardware. And also - the need to equip a reliable foundation. But at automation of sliding gates like it is possible to save - all is necessary in fact only one reducer, instead of two, as in case with swing gates. Still, I think at an increased price reflects the novelty of the product. After the sliding gate is not yet any welding office can produce, just no experience, although the complexity of production and installation of such gates is no more difficult than the usual swing.

On the other hand, if the courtyard is located below the street, it is not possible to open the swing gates outside, and the courtyard itself is not deep, the distance to the house does not allow you to put the car and close the gate, the sliding gate is simply a necessity.

I personally would not like to set the sliding gates in my house. They are wider than the swinging one and a half times due to the design features - the need for a counterweight. Then, when opening, you need a free space along the fence, and all kinds of bushes and flowers should not interfere. It still plays a role to look like a black sheep compared with its neighbors, probably. After all, in general, neither the house, nor the improvement of the yard, by and large, differs nothing from neighboring ones. And then - here, hello, hello gate. Zaporozhye is not used to them yet.

I also came across a desire to build a hanging gate in my house. But I still do not understand the owner, what is dictated by this desire. After all, the construction of a reliable fastening of the hinged sliding gates is complicated much, which means that the price also increases. Moreover, it was voiced that the horizontal jumper was removable and allowed to pass a tall truck if necessary. Flag in the hands, as they say in such cases.
