"Sleeping Princess": analysis, main characters and summary. "Sleeping Princess", Zhukovsky

One of the great poets of the XIX century - Vasily Andreevich Zhukovsky. The tale "The Sleeping Princess", the ballad "Ludmila" and many other works belong to his pen.

Brief biography of the poet

VA Zhukovsky was born in 1783, on January 29. He is the illegitimate son of the landowner AI Bunin from ED Turchaninova - a former captive Turkish woman. Vasily received his surname from the godfather, who later adopted the boy at Bunin's request.

Vasily received a good education, at the age of 18 he graduated from the Moscow University noble boarding school. Printed as an author, he began early - in 14 years he made his debut with his work "Thoughts on the Tomb." In 1808, Vasily Andreevich wrote his famous ballad "Ludmila", then created many more wonderful works in verse, and in 1809 wrote a prose novel "Maryina Grove".

In the late summer and early autumn of 1831, Zhukovsky wrote his interpretation of the plot of the sleeping princess, and 2 years later the same poetic work by AS Pushkin was created on the same subject. In order not to confuse these two different works, the article will sometimes give an explanation - the name of the author in the brackets. To find out what the son of Bunin's poem is about, a brief summary will help.

"Sleeping Princess", Zhukovsky, the outset of the work

A poetic story begins with the reader's acquaintance with Tsar Matvey and his wife, the queen. They lived together for many years, everything was fine, but one thing overshadowed their alliance - there were no children in the family.

And then one day the sad queen went to a stream, sat down on its green beaches and began to cry bitterly. But her tears did not remain unrequited, the young woman regretted the cancer and crawled up to her. He said that she does not mourn, that night she will become pregnant, and after a due time will give birth to a daughter.

On such a beautiful message the queen answered gratefully, but he already disappeared. It turns out that cancer was a prophet, and his predictions came true. Here, on such a positive note, a fairy tale begins, and, correspondingly, its brief content. "Sleeping Princess" (Zhukovsky VA) continues a joyful event - the noble family was born beautiful baby. Further narrative of the two great poets - Pushkin and Zhukovsky - varies. In the first case, the mother died at birth, in the second - no. Vasily Andreevich says that happy parents decided to call for a feast of sorceresses. This right now will tell a brief summary. "Sleeping Princess" (Zhukovsky VA) - a wonderful work that will be interesting not only for children, but for adults. So, the baby was so beautiful that it's even hard to describe how. And here in honor of the birth of a beauty, sorceresses came to her.

Predictions of sorceresses

First, Tsar Matvey wanted to invite 12 sorceresses, as many dishes were cooked - according to the number of guests. But then it turned out that one thing was lost. Therefore, the king decided the twelfth, old and evil, not to call.

After the guests had sat well, drank, ate, they gave the princess all sorts of joyful predictions. Since sorceresses were sorceresses, all these wonderful moments were to come true in time. But, as it turned out, there were not only joyful predictions. After 10 sorceresses said their word, an uninvited guest appeared at the feast. What she said, right now she will give a short summary. "Sleeping Princess" (Zhukovsky V.) - a fairy tale full of wonders and sorcery. So, according to the words of the evil prophetess, the girl will have to live until she is fifteen years old, and in the sixteenth year she will die due to the fact that she is pricked with a spindle. If we analyze this event and compare Zhukovsky's work with Pushkin's poem, it becomes clear that both girls were waiting for a sad event, but the first one was to be pricked with a spindle, and the second was to be poisoned with an apple.

Optimistic prophecy of a good sorceress

That's the wish the little witch did to the baby. But the girl was lucky, because before that only 10 sorcerers had managed to predict all the good things for her, and the eleventh had not yet uttered magic words. To smooth out the witch's spell, the last of the invited said that the girl will not die, but fall asleep for 300 years. At the end of this period, evil spells will disperse, and the princess will live happily until old age. All this was written in verse in his work Zhukovsky ("The Sleeping Princess"). The main characters of the narrative are not only the tsar, the queen, the princess and the two sorceresses, the reader will learn about others later.

The sorceress's prediction comes true

Hearing that her evil witch wished her beloved daughter, the tsar was very upset. He began to eat badly, to sleep, and then issued a decree to forbid the sowing of flax, to make yarn from it, to twist it with the help of a spindle. This tool of old handicraft was forbidden to have in any home. After this decree Matvei calmed down, and life began to flow in its turn.

Time passed, the princess turned 15 years old, she became even more beautiful, blossomed like a flower in May. Once her parents went for a walk, and the young girl stayed at home. She was bored, and she decided to inspect the palace. After all, in some premises the girl has never been.

She began to walk in the mansions and saw a steep staircase, climbed it, and there was a small komorka. The girl became curious, she opened the door and saw an old woman sitting and spinning yarn. The old woman took and handed the girl a spindle, because it was that witch. Immediately, the young virgin pricked her hand and fell asleep. That's how the sleeping princess appeared in the palace. Zhukovsky, whose heroes in this tale are both positive and negative, then describes the picture of universal sleep.

Sleepy Kingdom

At the same instant, the whole palace and its inhabitants were covered by a general slumber. The king and his wife both stood on the porch, right there and fell asleep. Their retinue stood still, not letting go of the guns. Khorunzhy fell asleep on a horse, the animal also plunged into a long-term drowsiness. Even the dogs, the flies froze, and so remained immovable. The cook cooked the food and stayed in the kitchen. Even the fire fell into a nap.

Since then, the bird could not fly into this sleepy kingdom, the beast would not have gone there either. The prickly thorn grew like a high fence, the wild bark also blocked the road-road.

100 years have passed. During this time, some daredevils, listening to the stories of their grandfathers, tried to find the palace and the princess, but none of them returned back, so everyone threw desperate attempts to get there.

The Tsar's son

So passed 300 years. Once the young prince rode through the forest with his retinue and fell behind her. He was about that cherished boron, met the old man. He told the young man that he had heard from his grandfathers that there was a royal palace in these places, in it a beautiful princess slept and was waiting for his savior for 3 centuries.

The knight rode to where the old man pointed. Before the young man the dense forest blossomed, the nature was clearly pleased with its appearance - the birds began to click, the streams began to blossom, the flowers began to blossom right before our eyes. Zhukovsky described all this beautifully in his poems.

"Sleeping Princess": the main characters

In addition to the girl herself, there are characters who played a significant role in her life. These are both positive and negative heroes. The last category can be attributed only to one person - the old sorceress. She did evil. Took her considerable role in her work author, because of the old woman almost died in the prime of life, and therefore gave the name of his opus Zhukovsky - "Sleeping Princess." What does this moment teach? That if you invite guests, you need to think about who. After all, you can offend a person by inviting 11 close friends, and the twelfth - no. Then he can harbor anger, as a sorceress did from a fairy tale.

But her charm was destined to dispel the prince, who is one of the main positive heroes along with the girl and her parents.

Since the main actors in this work are few, they are easy to remember. Now, if someone says: "Zhukovsky," Sleeping Princess ", the main characters of this poem will immediately pop up in your memory.

And the spell fell

The tsarevich was destined to destroy one of the main positive heroes. Hearing the story of the old man, he was not afraid and went to look for the palace. I found it quickly and was surprised that everything, from people to animals and insects, was asleep.

The tsar lay on the porch. Crossed, the young man stepped over him and headed for his chosen one. Further Zhukovsky describes for a long time how she was pretty. As they say, years are not powerful over beauty. Tsarevich fell in love at first sight, kissed a sweet girl, she woke up, and not only she. The palace instantly revived, each began to continue to do what he had done before.

Of course, the tsar and the tsarina blessed their daughter, she married the savior, and all ended, as in many Russian folk tales, a feast to the whole world. Vasily Zhukovsky wrote this poem. The sleeping princess woke up and everything ended well.

Analysis of the opus

What is he talking about? If the school students write an essay on the theme "Zhukovsky," Sleeping Princess ", the analysis of the work will help get an excellent mark. First you can compare the story with the tale of the Brothers Grimm, mention that their story called "The Sleeping Beauty" is similar to Zhukovsky's opus, like the work of Charles Perrault, called "Beauty in a Sleeping Forest". His work was called Zhukovsky "The Sleeping Princess". Feedback will also help to understand poetry more deeply.

Readers like that in this work the brave heroes triumph, they win love and good. It is accepted to compare the poetic opus of A.S. Pushkin "The Tale of the Sleeping Princess and the Seven Knights" with the work that Zhukovsky created. "Sleeping Princess" (reviews help to better understand the structure of the work) is a must-have poem for extracurricular reading. The reviews concern the structure of poems, heroes, the main storyline.

Vasily Ivanovich's story is based on similar Western European stories, told earlier by the brothers Grimm and Charles Perrault. But Zhukovsky Russified the fairy tale, he introduced some Russian folk features. The composition is built on successive events, each period of the hero's life is described, So, first it is told that the tsar and the princess lived together for many years, then a daughter was born, 15 years passed, and then 300 years later.

The fairy tale is written in the technique of four-legged chorea with some male rhymes. In this you can draw an analogy with some of Pushkin's works, but in the latter, male paired ones alternate with female rhymes.
