Shane Alexander was born in 1933 in Moscow in the family of theater administrator Samuel Abramovich Shane and housewives Clara Borisovna Driban. In addition to Alexander, the family brought up two more children - Fedor and Irina. Since childhood, the future director has absorbed the creative atmosphere of the theater, attended virtually all premieres, was personally acquainted with many actors and directors. Work in the theater was his dream, and it was destined to come true. Therefore, when it's time to choose a profession, Shane Alexander did not think too much and decided to enter the theater. True, before entering the university, the young Shane had to work as an assistant director at the Yermolova Theater until 1956. However, these years could not be considered lived in vain, during this time, the future director and scriptwriter had the opportunity to thoroughly study all the mechanism hidden from the viewer of the theater, which was very useful to him in his future work. And only in 1958, Shane Alexander was enrolled in GITIS, where he studied at the directing department until 1963 on the course of an experienced master Yuri Zavadsky.

However, not having a diploma, Alexander begins to try his hand at the director. So, in the period from 1961 to 1962 he works in a number of theaters in Kazan, Tula and Moscow. In 1962 he was involved as the second director on the set of the picture "Hello Children!", This was the first film by Alexander Shane. The film tells about the tragic fate of a Japanese girl who became ill with radiation sickness after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and then by fate's will found herself on vacation in the Artek camp on the Black Sea coast. Over this work, Shane Alexander worked together with director Mark Donskoy.

The first independent film work of Alexander Shein was the tape "Family Happiness" based on the novel by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov "Nerves", in the film such stars of Soviet cinema as Valentin Gaft, Alisa Freindlikh, Vyacheslav Tikhonov and others were involved, however, despite this, the tape does not Had a big rolling success.

Since 1970, in the life of Alexander Shein, the era of multi-screen cinema begins, he was destined to become the father and ancestor of this trend in the domestic space. The essence of multi-screen cinema is reduced to showing on one screen several thematically interconnected pictures. This direction was developed in the west in the first half of the twentieth century, but for Soviet cinema has become an innovation. For the modern viewer, there is nothing surprising in the "multi-screen show", but it is worth remembering that this is an era far from digital technologies. As part of this project, Alexander Shane became the organizer and head of the creative workshop "Sovpolikadr", which was engaged in shooting documentary and journalistic films in a multi-screen manner. During the functioning of the workshop, Alexander Shane shot about 13 paintings. Among them are "Our march", "Internationale", "I am a citizen of the Soviet Union" and other tapes. In particular, the film "Our march" won the Grand Prix "Golden Dove" at the International Film Festival in Leipzig. Most of these works praised the Soviet system and propagated it in every possible way.

Few people know that Alexander Shane himself starred in several films, although these works were episodic, but still they should also be mentioned. For example, he was remembered by many for his role in the first Soviet catastrophe "The Crew" (1979), already in adulthood A. Shane took part in the shooting of the popular series "Two Fates" (2002), where he played the role of Osetroff.

A family

Shane Alexander Samuilovich was married, he became the father of two children - the daughter of Katerina and her son Alexander. The latter followed in the footsteps of his father and became a famous director and producer of motion pictures. The daughter is far from the cinema, however her work is related to art and creativity - she is the administrator of art exhibitions.

Alexander Shane, director and screenwriter, died on February 24, 2015 in Moscow.
