Ceiling baseboard: installation by yourself

The ceiling skirting makes it possible to make the ceiling beautiful and elegant, without spending much effort and not incurring large expenses. In addition, with its help, there is an opportunity to hide small cracks and defects of the wall-to-ceiling connection. Also, the ceiling skirting board is ideal for creating the edging of the ornament on the wall.

Cappings ceiling can have a variety of views. The plinth with longitudinal grooves is called extruded, with a smooth surface - laminated, with the presence of convex bas-relief patterns - injection. Ceiling plinth is also called molding. The ability to simulate a plaster mold allows you to create a classic interior of the room. Gypsum stucco, in comparison with polyurethane and polystyrene, from which the ceiling skirtings are made, is quite heavy. The plinth, painted in the color of stone or any kind of wood, looks like it is almost impossible to distinguish it from natural materials.

The plinth of the ceiling polyurethane has a long service life. But no matter what type of ceiling skirting you use, the rule is one: immediately after installation, it must be opened with a protective layer of paint to prevent yellowing. An excellent option will be water-based paint.

Ceiling baseboard, the installation of which begins with priming, will hide the flaws in the corners of the ceiling and the wall. Priming the corners must be slightly wider than the ceiling skirting itself. To make the markup, we will need a measurement with the same dimensions that we apply to the wall and after every 20-30 cm we apply small lines to the wall.

Next we need to adjust the inner corners. With perfectly flat corners, you can use the chair. Otherwise, you need to apply a skirting board and draw a line from both sides of the corner, the intersection of these lines (on the ceiling) and will be a mark. By re-applying the skirting boards we transfer this label to them. Then, using a hacksaw with small teeth cut off the angle of the skirting (the line from the upper end of the skirting to the mark).

The ideal solution for fixing the ceiling skirting is the use of acrylic sealant, which is applied by a special gun. The use of this sealant not only allows you to glue the plinth, but also immediately seal the seams. Apply the sealant directly to the skirting board. Then, exposing it to previously applied labels, press down with a little effort the plinth to the wall and ceiling. Appear excess acrylic sealant with a finger, then wipe the corners with a slightly damp sponge. It should be noted that when installing a number of lying skirting boards, the sealant must be applied to their ends.

After the installation of the ceiling skirting boards in the entire room, all corners and seams must be carefully inspected: it may be necessary to re-seal them in some places. Applying acrylic putty and a rubber spatula, it is also necessary to seal the cross joins of the skirting boards. Typically, this is done by applying three layers of putty, after it dries, these places are ground. The finishing moment of installation of a ceiling skirting board will be its coloring in necessary color.
