Samara Theater of Drama . Gorky has existed for more than a hundred years. The repertoire is rich, and every spectator will find something interesting for himself. History of the theater

It is considered that the Samara drama theater exists since 1851. It was then that the first professional permanent troupe appeared in the city. The first season was opened by the comedy "The Inspector General". In 1888, for the theater, a stone building was built on the bank of the Volga River, where the troupe "lives" to this day. The author of the project was the architect M. Chichagov.

In 1901, the premiere of a new play "Foma Gordeev" was performed on the stage of the Samara theater based on the play of the young then writer Maxim Gorky. Previously, his plays were not staged anywhere. Since then, M. Gorky's plays have been going on not only on the stage of the drama theater of the city of Samara, but also on theatrical stages all over the world.

In 1926, the Samara Academic Drama Theater became a state theater . The repertoire has changed. Most of the performances were staged according to the plays of Soviet playwrights.

The thirties of the 20th century were hard for the theater. Very often the directors changed. The actors did not stay long. In 1936, Maxim Gorky died. Then the theater was given his name.

During the war years the repertoire was special. The corresponding plays were staged. Actors in the composition of concert brigades performed in hospitals before the wounded soldiers, as well as served as nannies and wrote for the wounded letters to their relatives. On Victory Day the theater gave a performance "It Will Be So."

In the 60s, the troupe toured in Moscow. The Samara drama brought to the capital ten of its best productions. The tour lasted 35 days. The most successful of the ten was the play "Richard III". Spectators and critics were delighted with the decoration of the production, as well as the brilliant play by the performer starring N. Zasukhin, who showed great talent to find so many shades of black.

In the 1970s, several performances of the Samara theater were awarded state prizes. The production of "Old-fashioned comedy" was shown repeatedly on the Central Television of the country. In 1977, the theater began to be called academic.

In the 90s, the American director D. Kaplen worked with the troupe. He put the drama "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare. The actress of the Samara theater V. Ershova became a laureate of the national award "Golden Mask" at the end of the 20th century.

In 1998, the Samara Theater for a whole month toured in France.

The Samara Drama Theater entered the 21st century with the comedy "Venetian Twins" based on the play of Carl Goldoni. The production was staged by the Italian director P. Landi. Costumes and scenery created by the artist from Italy S. Mineko. In the play, young actors of the Samara theater are busy.

In 2001, the Samara Theater organizes a festival in its city, where he participates in the production of "The Eccentrics".

The Samara drama theater is first of all talented artists. Currently, there are 45 actors in the troupe. Two of them have the title "People's Artist of Russia". This is Zhanna Anatolievna Nadezhdina (Romanenko) and Vladimir Vladimirovich Borisov.

Awarded the title of "Honored Artist of Russia" Valentin Viktorovich Ponomarev, Oleg Konstantinovich Belov, Elena Alexandrovna Lazareva, Vsevolod Mikhailovich Turchin, Vladimir Alexandrovich Galchenko, Ivan Morozov and Yury Mashkin.
