History

The Voronezh Opera and Ballet Theater exists since 1931. Its leader was the actor and director LA Lazarev. Originally it was a theater of musical comedy. His repertoire included classical operettas, as well as modern musical comedy performances. The main task of the theater was to entertain the working people. The artists worked at a very high level. Thanks to this performance was a great success. In 1958 the Opera and Ballet Theater of Voronezh traveled with a creative report to Moscow. The audience and the musical community of the capital highly appreciated it. During these tours, composer T. Khrennikov made a proposal for the reorganization of the theater. He suggested making it musical, that is, in addition to operettas, it also included operas and ballets. In 1960, the reorganization took place. The first opera, staged in the Voronezh musical theater, was "Eugene Onegin". The first ballet is Swan Lake. In 1968 the theater was renamed. This name he still wears.
