The theater of drama (Barnaul) exists since 1921. In his today's repertoire are works of contemporary authors, fairy tales for children and immortal classics, often in his own original interpretation.

About the theater

The theater of drama (Barnaul), photo of which is presented in this article, is the oldest and one of the largest in Western Siberia in the Altai.

In 1991, the theater was named after Vasily Shukshin. Throughout the years of its existence the collective does not change its credo: to serve the art unselfishly and show spectacular performances with a deep meaning at a high professional level. Today there are 40 actors in the company.

The theater of drama (Barnaul), in addition to performances, offers its spectators to visit the museum exposition, which operates constantly. And also temporary exhibitions and excursions to the very temple of dramatic art.

The main hall seats 711 spectators. The experimental is designed for 183 seats.

The theater has been repeatedly awarded with prizes from the heads of the city and the region. In 2009, it was declared the enterprise of the year. He was awarded the Demidov Prize. He received diplomas, including the Grand Prix at the theater festivals. In 2009, 2011 and 2014 he was awarded special prizes by the jury for the theatrical prize "Golden Mask".

V. Shukshin

The theater of drama (Barnaul) always included in its repertoire performances created by the works of V. Shukshin. Even in the 90's, when the fashion for this author passed and virtually all the troupes in the country stopped putting on it performances. Life has become different, and his characters have become irrelevant. Barnaul drama, one of the few, remained true to Vasily Shukshin. The repertoire of the theater to this day includes his works. More recently, performances on V. Shukshin again came into fashion and appeared in the repertoire of many troupes. Today on the stage are the works of this author, who had never before seen the scene. And those that were popular in the Soviet era, today almost not put.
