In 1926 the novel "Respublica ShKID" was written. Its authors were G. Belykh and L. Panteleyev. Thirty years later, director Gennady Poloka decided to film the work. The authors of the story were former students of the school. Dostoevsky. The work, however, is not devoid of artistic fiction. The actors of the film "Respublika ShKID" are like professional, experienced artists, and beginners. Among them there were several juvenile offenders.

History of creation

The film "The Republic of ShKID" (1966) tells about difficult teenagers who found themselves in a boarding school, created in 1920. The head of this institution was the teacher Victor Soroka-Rosinsky. He played it in the film Sergei Yurievich Yursky. The script for the film was written by one of the authors - L. Panteleyev. By that time White was already arrested. According to one of the versions, he was behind bars because of Panteleev's denunciation.

Criticism of the writer

According to the author of the book, the actors of the movie "Respublika ShKID" played heartily. But the picture itself did not like Panteleev. He even wrote several angry articles in the central Soviet newspapers. First of all, Aleksei Panteleev was dissatisfied with the fact that the young actors of the film "Respublica ShKID" created on the screen the images of teenagers who are always fighting with each other, start fights, and are engaged in usury. Yes, it was all in the boarding school. But the pupils spent a lot of time reading and studying foreign languages, staging plays on works of art. The life of the Shkidists looks much more rough on the screen than in the book.

Censorship

The premiere took place in 1966. The film won the love of Soviet spectators and broke all box-office records. However, the exit of the film was preceded by a long, painful story. Initially, the director was shooting a two-part feature film. As a result of constant reductions, his work has become a picture, the duration of which is only one and a half hours. The content of the film did not correspond to the propaganda depiction of the life of adolescents in a socialist state.

One of the scenes was completely cut out. We are talking about episodes in which the actors of the film "Respublika ShKID" recreate on the screen the utter lawlessness of boarding school pupils. The pupil of the senior classes is engaged in usury, thereby acquiring money and ordering food in the restaurant. Small Shkidovs at the same time play the role of waiters.

"How could such an outrage be committed by the Soviet government?" One of the authoritative employees of Lenfilm asked the filmmaker to create. Polok had nothing to say. Children and adolescents in the Soviet Union were the most honest, hardworking, ideologically correct. And to argue with this statement is more expensive.

The creator of this film often heard criticisms about the plot, even many years after the premiere. Particular indignation was caused by the elections, which were arranged by the Shkidists. The event was too reminiscent of the American political system.

Cast

The main role was played in the film by Sergei Yurievich Yursky. It is worth noting that in the book ViknikSor this is more of a secondary character. In those days, the directors of the film studio recommended, and at times insisted on the approval of one or another actor. So, the director of the film "Respublika ShKID" was offered to Andrei Popov as Viknikorsa. However, this candidate Gennady Poloka rejected. Instead of Popov, he invited a novice artist Jurassic.

Interesting Facts

Despite the fact that the good part of the plot was destroyed by censorship, the film appealed to both young audiences and adults. It is noteworthy that eleven directors refused to film the work written by Panteleyev. But even after the shooting came to an end, the film remained for a while on the shelf. He was not allowed to pass until the directors of the Union did not vote for him.

What happened to the actors?

Young offenders on the set were brought under escort. Gennady Poloka had to work with such artists uneasy.

Alexander Kavalerov, who played the role of Mom, was at the age of fourteen at the site. After the premiere of the film, fame came to him, which, however, rather negatively affected his fate. Kavalerov was married several times. He became the father of six children. However, he suffered from alcohol dependence and at an advanced age was on the street.

Sparrow was played by Vyacheslav Romanov. The boy came from a family of professional car thieves. Artur Isaev was also brought from the colony to the set. He was there as a result of beating his own father. Played Isayev extremely talented. After filming, Georgy Tovstonogov decided to take him to the Leningrad Theater Institute. But it turned out that Isayev graduated from only six classes. There was no question of any admission and speech.

Alexey Dogadayev played the role of Savushka. He did not become an actor, but tried many professions. Dogadayev was a sailor, a surveyor, and a builder.

Soviet criticism called Poloka's film "an encyclopedia for hooligans." But still the film turned out to be unusually kind, humane, life-affirming. For all the existence of the picture looked more than seventeen million viewers.
