The Moscow theater of the modern play (the exact name - the Moscow theater "School of Modern Play") is quite young. It exists about 30 years. In his repertoire, the classic side with modernity. There is a whole galaxy of theater and cinema stars in the troupe.

History of the theater

The theater of the modern play was opened in 1989. Initially it was an experimental studio. During perestroika, many such companies were created, so the competition was tough. Not all could survive. "School of Modern Play" was one of the few who managed to do it.

Soon the studio grew into a theater. His repertoire includes only those plays written by modern playwrights. The name of the theater reflects this fact. Many of the works that are on his stage were written specifically for him. The troupe of the theater consists of talented professional artists. Many of them are famous for their roles in films and serials.

For almost thirty years of its existence, the theater of the modern play presented the viewer with more than seventy performances. Its main principles are an experiment, a constant search for something new, freshness of techniques. The theater develops, becomes mature, but at the same time tries not to lose youth. In the current season (2015-2016), his poster offers 21 productions of various genres. Among them there are performances for children, as well as performances that have become legendary, since they have not left the stage for many years and have withstood a record number of shows with the same sell-out. One of these performances - "A Choi, are you in a dress coat?".

The theater of the modern play is actively cooperating with outstanding directors of different generations - Mikhail Kozakov, Leonid Kheifets, Dmitry Astrakhan, Sergei Jurassic, Boris Milgram, Stanislav Govorukhin, Ivan Vyrypaev, Boris Morozov and others.

Each year the theater staged performances of young novice directors. Here they debut as directors. The theater provides them with a territory for searching, experimenting and gaining invaluable experience.

Today the artistic director of the "School of Modern Play" is the director Joseph Reichelgauz.

The theater of the modern play gathered talented actors into its troupe. Many of them became famous for their numerous works in the cinema. Fourteen actors have honorary titles of Honored and People's Artists of Russia.

The season premiere

In April 2016 the playbill of the theater "School of Modern Play" offers viewers a premiere of the play "A Man Has Come to a Woman" based on a play by Semyon Zlotnikov. The director of this production is Joseph Reichelguaz. This performance was the very first in the repertoire of the theater. Now Joseph Reichelgauz decided to put his new version. Today, Said Bagov and Anastasia Volochkova are in the lead roles. For the famous ballerina it will be a debut work. She will appear on stage for the first time in her life as a dramatic actress.

The play tells the story of a single man and a woman who ended up in the same apartment. They talk, communicate, their relations develop, and at times in the most unpredictable manner. Sympathy turns into dislike, disgust turns into love, anger develops into tenderness.

The play can be attributed to melodrama and lyrical comedy.

The characters will answer the main question: what do men and women really want from each other?
