Puncture under the road: method and cost. Is it possible to make a puncture under the road with your own hands?

Very often there is a need to lay various communications under the carriageway or railway track. The technology to do this is called a "puncture under the road" and is most often a horizontal drilling. This method has obvious advantages over other types of communication. Unlike the trench device, the puncture under the road does not violate the integrity of the road surface and does not damage the green spaces. In addition, it is not necessary to perform a large amount of excavation work. This method is known as trenchless laying of communications.

What you need to self puncture under the road

Make a puncture under the road with your own hands - it's quite an achievable task. In this case, its length should not exceed ten meters. Before you get to work, prepare everything you need. You will need:

  • Bulgarian;
  • Large heavy hammer or sledge hammer;
  • Sturdy steel bars, the length of which in aggregate exceeds the width of the road by 10-20 cm;
  • Pump, hose and funnel;
  • Large capacity for water for 100-200 liters;
  • Pieces of steel pipe, the total length of which exceeds the width of the carriageway by 15-20 cm;
  • Apparatus for welding works.

Operation procedure at work

First, you need to excavate small excavations on both sides of the road. Their depth should be greater than the depth of the pipe. From one pit, the pipe will be advanced deep into the ground. The second pit will be the receiving room.

Using a steel rod, mark the path of the pipeline. With the help of the Bulgarian, sharpen one end of the pin and begin pounding it into the ground along the course of the future pipeline. To prevent the rod from bending, the length should not exceed 1.5-2 meters. After driving one segment, weld to the end of the next pin and again clog it. Continue to work until the point of the first segment appears in the receiving pit.

Now you can start the basic work. On the axial rod, put on the first piece of the pipeline, the front edge of which is processed with a Bulgarian, giving it the shape of a pointed crown. This will ensure easier entry into the ground. On the other side of the pipe, put on a steel beaker and start hitting it with a sledgehammer.

Then immerse the pump in a barrel of water, and push the hose into the pipe to the end. The water head performs the function of lubrication and facilitates the movement of steel, and also promotes the washing out of the spent soil from the pipe.

All subsequent work consists in alternating two actions - washing the ground with water and pushing the pipeline with a hammer. Continue until the first section of the pipe appears in the pit on the opposite side of the road.

As you can see, it's not so difficult to arrange a puncture under the road with your own hands. As a result, a hollow tube should be produced with the same guide rod inside. This pin can now be easily removed, since the water has washed the entire ground out during operation. The resulting pipeline should be used as a case for carrying out a second pressurized tube of smaller diameter.

If the length of the planned communication exceeds 10 meters, then a more rational option will be to contact specialists.

Horizontal Directional Drilling Method

This puncture method under the road is to create a pilot horizontal well or a through hole of a given diameter, into which a case or pipe for communications is pulled. HDD is never carried out in dry ground. During the drilling process, a constant supply of water is made in order to make the soil more ductile and pliable, and also to prevent the collapse of the walls of the resulting well. After the hole is created, the pipeline is tightened into it. To do this, on the one hand, a special tip or cap is put on it, which is fixed firmly. On the other side of this case a drill is fixed. With the help of special equipment installed on the opposite side of the road, the pipe is drawn into the puncture. After completion of work, a small part of the pipeline, on which the pulling cap was fixed, is cut off. Proceeding from this, it is necessary to calculate its length with reserve. The extension of the communication pipe is also accompanied by the supply of water for better gliding along the well.

Advantages

The method of horizontally directed drilling saves time and working resources, since when using it, there is no need to dismantle the asphalt or concrete road surface. Such a method does not have a destructive effect on the natural landscape. The HDD method can be used in a variety of conditions - under highways, under reservoirs, under parkland plantations, railway tracks and other objects. It is beneficial to use this type of trenchless drilling in the economic sense.

Managed puncture

The site, which is planned to conduct a puncture of the ground under the road, is preliminarily investigated. After this, a project is created, according to which a safe drilling of a horizontal well is carried out along the planned trajectory with the avoidance of all possible obstacles. The drilling machine is equipped with a special blade with a cutting nozzle. It has a built-in probe system, which allows you to accurately control the movement of the drill, the direction and depth of the future pipeline. The position of the probe is tracked by a specialist with a locator, moving along the road surface and observing the readings of the radar monitor. The person who manages the drilling machine also receives all the necessary information for the accuracy of the manipulations. To prevent the borehole from falling off, its walls can be treated with a special mixture of clay and polymeric substances. Such a lubricant is called bentonite.

Service cost

What is the cost of a puncture under the road? The price level depends on several factors. Managed puncture using location equipment will cost more than unmanaged. If you need to build a short pipeline, then this work will be handled by an ordinary drilling machine that does not have a drill tracing system. The arrangement of an extended well, on the other hand, requires constant monitoring and adjustment by means of a locating device. Russian companies offer services to create a puncture under the road at prices of 1,000 rubles per running meter, which is usually cheaper than open ways of laying communications under the carriageway.

Whichever type of communication is required to be created, be it water or gas pipes, cases for electrical or fiber optic cables, a puncture under the road is the best way to do it quickly and reliably.
