Monuments of the Great Patriotic War: the memorial "Peremilovskaya height"

Peremilovskaya height - one of the most famous places associated with the heroic heroic deed of soldiers during the Second World War. Not for nothing was Robert Rozhdestvensky devoted his lines to him.

The area received its name from the name of the village of Peremilovo. It was here that from 27.11.1941 to 05.12.1941 bloody battles were fought. In memory of the heroism of those who became the defense of the homeland, at the height of a memorial.

Location of Peremilovskaya

The modern settlement of Peremilovo is part of the town of Yakhroma. The height is located one and a half kilometers from the eastern part of the city of Dmitrov, which is a district center. Here, the Moscow-Volga channel also flows.

Peremilovskaya height in the east stretched along the canal for 2 kilometers. It rises above it by more than 50 meters, as if hanging over a bridge connecting both parts of the Yakhroma. Because of the rugged terrain, it seems like the height is not one. Therefore, you can often hear another name for this area, namely the Perey- milovskie heights.

On the west bank, the altitude is represented as a gentle rise. Opponents who tried to take the height on such a prolonged ascent were visible and vulnerable.

The role of height in World War II

Peremilovskaya height (Dmitrov) is located off the banks of the Moscow Canal. This is the most important for the capital water, energy and transport artery. There were also automobile and railway lines.

The Germans themselves hoped to flood Moscow with the help of the channel, so they did not bomb it from the sky. Although the waterway was a significant obstacle for them when approaching the capital.

Peremilovskaya height allowed watching the canal, as well as by road and rail. Under control from the height was also the most important defense unit - the town of Yakhroma. In the village began evacuation of people and businesses by November 1941, when it became clear that the German troops were inexorably approaching the canal. At the time of the start of the fighting, in the nearest settlements, for the most part, only the military remained.

The battle for height

The battles began on 28.11.1941, when at 7 am the enemy attacked the territory with the forces of tanks and infantry. Soviet troops did not have anti-tank weapons, even hand grenades, so the enemy soon took Yakhroma. The Germans immediately rushed to the village, where there was Peremilovskaya height.

A bridge crossed the canal, to which the Germans landed a landing. They managed to remove the sentries guarding the way across the river. This allowed the German tanks to force the water artery and gain a foothold on the eastern shore. The village of Peremilovo was taken, and the persecution of the retreating group of Soviet troops began.

On the enemy's path were the men under the command of Lieutenant Lermontov. At their disposal were only two guns against 14 tanks. The armored train №73, which stood at the station "Dmitrov", also began to repulse the enemy. Commanded them by Captain Malyshev.

In order to throw the Germans out of the canal, as Stalin demanded, the First Shock Army was involved. It was created from the reserve of the local population, which was called in a hurry in November 1941. Commander of the First Shock Army, Lieutenant-General VI Kuznetsov, commanded it.

At the commandant's disposal were:

  • The rifle brigade, scattered by 10 kilometers along the front;
  • Building battalion;
  • Division "Katyusha" with a single ammunition;
  • Armored train number 73.

With these forces, the lieutenant general decided to attack the enemy. 11/21/1941 at 14 o'clock the counterattack began with the rifle brigade, which ended unsuccessfully.

The counteroffensive was repeated on November 29, 1941 at 6 am. The rifle brigades managed to quietly approach the enemy and break into the village of Peremilovo. The German troops were forced to retreat. Thus, Peremilovskaya height (Dmitrov) helped to detain the enemy, and the lightning strike on the capital was foiled.

To the German troops could not repeat the offensive, it was decided to blow up the bridge. The task was carried out at the cost of living of 12 of the 13 sappers, who died when the order was executed. In early December, the Germans tried to pass the tanks along the frozen canal, but the cars fell through the ice.

The Germans still managed to break through the defense, but a few days after that the battle for Moscow began. By December 8, Yakhroma was liberated from the German invaders, and two days later - and the entire Dmitrovsky district. This victory was a turning point in the war. A victorious counter-offensive began near Moscow under the command of generals Rokossovsky and Lelyushenko.

The monument was created from fragments in various parts of the USSR. So, the figure of the warrior was cast in Leningrad, the granite for the bas-relief was brought from the Ukrainian SSR, the bas-relief was made in Mytishchi. Mounted everything in place. One of the most difficult tasks was to deliver to the height of the bronze figure. All the more, doubts arose whether the figure would not tip over after installation from a strong wind. But these fears have refuted aerodynamic tests .

Driving along the channel of Moscow, it is impossible not to pay attention to the so-called Peremilovskie heights. In Yakhrom, Soviet troops for the first time managed to stop the offensive against Moscow and turn it into a successful counteroffensive.

Description of the monument

The monument has a height of 28 meters, of which 15 meters is a granite pedestal, and 13 - a figure of a soldier cast from bronze. The figure is a warrior who rushed into the attack and holds an automaton in his raised arm.

The monument is visible from two opposite banks of the canal. Going up to it, you can see a beautiful view of Yakhrom and its surroundings.

On the granite pedestal are carved the famous words of Robert Rozhdestvensky, which he wrote at the request of local residents:

Remember! From this threshold

In an avalanche of smoke, blood and adversity,

Here in the forty-first was the road

In the victorious forty-fifth year.
