Lermontov's works for children: short stories, poems

The artist, poet and writer Mikhail Yurievich Lermontov is best known as the author of "The Hero of Our Time." But Lermontov's poems for children occupy a far from last place in his poetic heritage. Lover of history, folklore and fairy tales, the poet wrote a fairly large number of poems and stories, which he himself called fairy tales. Lermontov's works for children are now being studied in the 6th grade of the secondary school.

Today we will talk about some of Lermontov's poems, poems and fairy tales, which are written for the younger generation.

Lermontov's poems for children (short)

The death of the mother imposed a very sad imprint on the life and work of Mikhail Yurievich. He very early remained in the care of his father, and this resulted in the anguish of poems that beat the theme of childhood or written for children.

Although the poet's childhood was flipped with a haze of sadness and longing for his mother, he nevertheless describes the early years as happy, joyful days.

Extraordinary lyricism, softness and warmth sing out Lermontov's poems for children. Short poems such as "Sail", "The Cossack Lullaby", "Child's Cute Birth", "Angel", "Child", demonstrate this as well as possible. These poems are the most penetrating and tender that is in the poet's work.

"Forget-me-not"

Lermontov's works for children also beat different fabulous stories. A small poem "Forget-Means" tells the story of a couple in love, which ended tragically.

The plot is simple. In ancient times, a young knight and his chosen one are sitting on a bench and talking. A young man is explained in love, but this is not enough for a girl. As proof of a strong feeling, she asks the knight to tear off for her a blue flower - forget-me-not. He is barely visible, as he grows very far away, but, as the girl says, "he is not so far for love", as it seems.

A young knight goes for a flower and gets into a quagmire, from which he can not escape. From the last forces he tears the flower and throws it under the feet of the beloved. Theme is not new - the flower as a symbol of love is often found in fairy tales of different countries of the world. For example, in the fairy tale "Beauty and the Beast", where the youngest daughter asks herself for a present only a scarlet rose.

"Sea princess"

Some say that this poem is a love poem, but in fact it is included in Lermontov's works for children. If you carefully read the text, it immediately becomes obvious - this is a duel not for life, but for death.

The poet used a common image of a mermaid. Seeing the Tsarevich on the shore, she begins to entice him into her arms, asking if the young man wants to spend the night with his royal daughter. In fact, she lures him into the water to drown.

The prince goes to her, but does not fall under the spell and instead of dying in the waves of the sea, she defeats the mermaid and drags her by the tail to the shore, where she turns into a monster and dies.

"Three palm trees"

Lermontov's works for children have a profound meaning, even if they seem to be an innocent fairy tale. "Three palm trees" is an excellent example.

In the desert grew three palm trees. They were hot and bored, because nothing happened there. And they began to murmur to heaven and lament that their lives are being wasted. Very soon a whole caravan appeared, and the travelers stopped under the palms to spend the night. True, at that time their life came to an end - the Moors cut down all three trees and burned them to keep warm, as the nights in the desert are cold.

The number "three" here is the established symbol of the triune soul, and the murmuring is a sin. The palms did not like the fact that no one admired them (pride). As a consequence, they were punished.

Lermontov's stories for children: "Ashik-Kerib., Turkish Fairy Tale"

The tale of a wandering singer who was looking for a way to get rich in order to marry the daughter of a rich merchant was found among Lermontov's papers after his sudden death. The fairy tale is an Azerbaijani version of an ancient fairy tale about Ashik Kerib who took with his beloved the promise of waiting for him for seven years. If through this time he does not return to the rich, she will marry another. Despite of any obstacles, Ashik Kerib comes back rich and takes the beloved in wives.

"Song about Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich, a young oprichnik and a striking merchant Kalashnikov"

Many people consider Lermontov's stories for children incomplete without this epic poem. It is interesting that, unlike other works, this story is unique. Nobody wrote about this story before Lermontov, and nobody after him.

Lermontov's works for children are usually based on fiction, but not this time. The action takes place in the times of Ivan the Terrible. The young oprichnik Kiribeyevich confesses to the tsar in the love of the beautiful woman - Alyona Dmitrievna. He pervades this story and gives a blessing to marriage, even gives the young man jewelry for the future bride. But the king does not know that the beloved Karibeevich is married to the merchant Kalashnikov.

Oprichnik Kiribeyevich lies in wait for Alena Dmitrievna in the church and dishonors her. The woman runs home in tears and asks her husband to take revenge. The merchant decides to teach the oprichnik the next day in a fistfight. So it happened - Kiribeyevich was killed. Ivan the Terrible asks whether the merchant killed the oprichnik by right. Not wishing to talk about the dishonor of his wife, the merchant Kalashnikov conceals the real reason, and he is sentenced to death.
