Knitting Patterns Poncho Crochet: Schemes and Description

Comparing the techniques of knitting with knitting crochet techniques, many craftsmen note the obvious advantage of the latter. Crocheting simplifies many fairly complex tasks: knitting hats, mittens, children's clothes, toys and even interior items.

Poncho - clothes for all time

According to historical data, the name of the clothing of Indian tribes of South America. This wardrobe thing quickly became very popular and fell in love with many people around the world. Today, the fashion for traditional poncho species has gone a little, but universal recognition has been honored by its latest modifications.

In order to tie a poncho with a crochet, the patterns and description are desirable, but not necessary. This product allows you to use completely different yarns and knitting techniques. The choice of material and pattern depends on the purpose of clothing: decorative or warm.

The amount of yarn will also be affected by the size of the product. A baby poncho for a girl crocheting will require significantly less yarn than an adult long item. When knitting warm models, you should take into account that yarn with a thick thread has a very small footage. Therefore, it is necessary to focus not on the weight of the material being purchased, but on the total length of the yarns in all the coils.

The most common types of ponchos

All existing species can be divided into two types:

  1. Solid warm products.
  2. Openwork decorative capes.

The first should be knit from yarn containing not less than 30% of natural fibers of wool, angora or mohair (optimally 50%). Of course, you can use acrylic, but it will not heat, even if the canvas comes out dense and without holes. Rather, artificial fibers will lead to the fact that the poncho will be either too hot or very cold.

An openwork poncho for a girl, crocheted, will hold a shape and be worn long if used with cotton, linen, polyamide or viscose.

Knitting around

The classic version of knitting ponchos - round. Begin knitting from the neck, typed chain of air loops are closed in a ring and mark with a colored thread two loops at equal distance from each other. Next, knit circular rows, adding loops at these two points.

The general principle of addition is three loops from one base loop. So a right angle (90 degrees), more precisely, two right angles is formed. Consecutive expansion will allow to receive a cloth of a specific form. It responds as best as possible to the characteristics of human anatomy and avoids the formation of too wide a canvas.

For insulation, such a poncho can be supplied with a neck as shown in the photo.

The possibility of using different colors and textures of yarn is an undoubted plus of such a crocheted poncho. Schemes and descriptions of other options are presented below.

A model of two rectangles

Sewing two rectangular canvases is a fairly common method of knitting crochets. This is a very simple way, crochet ponchos (schemes of suitable ornaments are shown in the photo) allows you to apply a large number of patterns.

To make a poncho with this method, you should associate two identical stripes with the selected pattern and then sew them as shown in the photo. The form of such a product fully corresponds to the form described in the previous paragraph. It can be decorated on the edge with a harness or brushes, and for warmth sew a separately tied collar.

Rectangular poncho

There is another way to create a canvas for a poncho crochet. Schemes and description of the pattern or individual fragments can be absolutely any, although it is better to dwell on ornaments with a moderate size of holes. The sagging cloth can conceal the pattern, and it will seem that the clothes are tied up inaccurately.

To produce a rectangular model, you must associate a rectangle of the required size with the hole-throat. For convenience, the opening is aperture-cut ("boat") or a hole in a square shape. When using square fragments, the poncho openwork crochet is comfortable to knit with the use of full squares and their halves, triangles. The diagram below shows how you can link half the square motif.

Look good cloaks, which combine elements of different patterns and even techniques. The photo below shows an example of how you can perform crochet ponchos (the schemes of squares can be any) using another pattern or tying with knitting needles.

The disadvantage of this model is the rather wide edges of the product. Each piece has the shape of a rectangle, not a chamfered trapezoid, as in the previous paragraphs. This feature can create some inconvenience.

Short poncho: cape and cape

Modern modification of the classic poncho is a short pelerine. It can be knitted from warm woolen yarn, have fur as a decoration, fringe and pompons. Also, the pelerines are knit with the use of lace patterns and fine threads. They are decorated with beads, rhinestones or knitted flowers. Quite often knitted pelerines are used for wedding dress or on summer days for protection from solar ultraviolet.

Knitting a short poncho crochet (the diagrams and descriptions here are very important) is performed round-the-clock, by return rows or by composing individual fragments. The photo above shows the variants of delicate ornamental ponchos. Like other types of ponchos, the pelerine can be circular or in the form of an open cloth with a fastener or strings.

Knitting a poncho crochet for beginners should not be considered an impossible task. Correct selection of the model and yarn, as well as careful calculations of loops and rows will help create an excellent functional wardrobe item.
