This is a men's school for young suvorovtsy in the city of Kazan, which was the beginning of an army career for several generations of servicemen. This school today is one of the best in the country. How did it all start?

History of occurrence

The first 9 military educational institutions, called the Suvorov schools, were opened in 1943 on the territory of our country. During the war, the country was in need of trained officers. A year later, six more such educational institutions were organized. Among them were opened the Kazan IED. The order of the command for the formation of the school was signed in June 1944. They placed it in the walls of the educational buildings of the former infantry school of the Kazan Admiralty Sloboda.

By the end of the summer of the same year, all the cadets sent for training had settled down in the main building on Tolstoy Street. The chief of the school was appointed Major-General Boloznev. Even in tsarist Russia, this building housed a female gymnasium. It was built on the money of the landowner Rodionova and was named for her in her honor. During the Second World War (before its reorganization into the Kazan Suvorov Military School) there was a hospital for the wounded soldiers.

In the autumn of 1944, classes began. A total of 500 people attended the training. They were divided into 4 groups of 100 future officers, and there were also senior and junior preparatory groups of 50 people each. The composition of the students was international. Young people from 27 regions of the country and the republics of the Soviet Union were gathered here. Among them were also the guys who had been in the battles of the Great Patriotic War (the so-called "sons of the regiments"). Some of them even had awards and medals for the courage and combat merit shown at the front.

At that time the Kazan Suvorov Military School was replenished with young officers from the Main Directorate of Personnel of the Defense Committee. Also there were sent sergeants from the reserve 46 rifle division.

Early years

The first call within the walls of the IED (Kazan) rang in the fall of 1944. The study began in October, and officially on November 8 it became its opening day. It was on this day in 1944 that the solemn opening and presentation of the Banner of the School took place on the main square of Kazan.

In 1947 Kazan IED gets a half dozen horses for riding and horse riding. In the spring of the following year, the school team won the annual city athletic marathon and received a prize from the local sports committee for physical education. Since 1948, IED representatives have constantly participated in these competitions and won, losing first place only four times to the schools of the city.

In the summer of 1949 at the First Moscow Spartakiade among the military and Suvorov schools of the Soviet Union the seventh place was taken by the team of the Kazan IED. The school took first place in boxing at that championship.

For the first time since graduation, the Suvorovites were congratulated in the summer of 1949. After training, they became perfectly trained officers. In all, the first graduates were 65 people.

In 1951, the school authorities decided to hold general fees. From now on they begin to pass not in parks near educational buildings, but in garrison camps. In the first fees, companies that are preparing for release take part. And later they are joined by all groups of the school.

In a new training year in 1955, 56 people from two disbanded military educational institutions were transferred to the Kazan IED: the Second Moscow School for the Preparation of Artillerymen and from the Kazan Military Preparatory School. In the following year, in 1956, two more Suvorov schools were closed: Kuibyshev and Stalingrad IEDs, and students were transferred from there to other places of study. 29 people joined the ranks of the Kazan School.

The changes also affected the training period and admission to the Kazan Suvorov Military School. Admission to military training was carried out from the 4th grade of the general education school. However, IED training was one year longer, compared to regular schools, and was 7 years.

In the late 1950s, according to the decree of the Ministry of Defense of the country, the Suvorovians, starting from the 4th grade, are allowed to join the pioneer societies.
