Joe Vader. Way to success

A global revolution in the world view of the beauty of the body, sports and fitness took place in the distant 1939. This happened due to the publication of a brochure called Your Physique, authored by Joe Vader. It is this moment that can be considered the birth of bodybuilding, because before such a concept did not even exist. We will talk about the biography of the great man in this article.

Way to the dream

Was born the founder of bodybuilding in Montreal, November 29, 1919 and grew up as an ordinary puny boy. At age 13, Joe Vader realized that if he remains the same frail teenager, then he will never be able to defeat the domestic fights and rebuff the hooligans who oppressed him. Then he decided to go in for sports and created his first barbell, and Joe got hold of a locomotive axle and attached a pair of wheels to the car. The results from the training were so amazing that after a short time Vader began to win in local competitions among weightlifters.

Striking success did not leave anyone indifferent: the bodybuilder was literally bombarded with questions from friends and strangers. Then Joe Vader decided not to bother with constant answers and issued a brochure of Your Physique, which sold out in 50,000 copies in the first few weeks. It is this bodybuilding guide that can be considered the progenitor of such publications as Muscle Builder, Flex, Muscle & Fitness, Shape. This was the starting point in the popularization of bodybuilding. In the postwar years, the love for this sport only increased, largely due to the efforts of Joe Vader. Cinematography made a contribution to this process, and the muscular body became thoroughly fashionable.

"Gospel" for athletes

Joe Vader, whose photo is presented in the article, doing bodybuilding for many years, realized that impressive results can be achieved only with a competent system of training. The principles of this system the bodybuilder described in his book, which is called "The system of building the body by Joe Vader." This edition has become a true Bible for bodybuilders around the world. According to this system, such bodybuilding stars as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rick Wayne, Frank Zane, Franco Columbus and Lee Haney were trained. Despite the fact that even now this book provokes contradictory reactions and gives rise to a lot of controversy, it is impossible to deny the success of the system, as evidenced by the blossoming view that Joe Vader is famous for. Photo in 60 years shows - the athlete still did not shape his form thanks to his training system.

"Mr. Olympia"

Everything that Vader did in his life was associated only with this sport. In 1946, together with his brother Ben Joe became the founder of the International Federation of Bodybuilders in Montreal. In 1965 the Waders organize the competition "Mr. Olympia", which soon becomes the most prestigious among such. In fact, unlike the "Mr. Universe" and "Mr. Mira" in this competition, athletes can perform even after winning the main title. The popularity of bodybuilding increases every year, and already in 1980 the first women's competition, Miss Olympia, is held. And in 1995 there was a competition "Fitness Olympia". Increasing popularity of such competitions significantly multiplies their prize fund. If the first Mr. Olympia, everyone known Larry King, was awarded only a symbolic crown, then in the following year 1966 a weighty prize of $ 1000 is added to it. And every year the prize fund is increasing.

Empire Weider

In addition to coaching and organizing activities, the Vader brothers also worked to create their own empire, which includes sports nutrition factories, magazines, patented sports equipment, clothes for athletes and much more. Today, Weider remains the leader in the bodybuilding industry and is not going to surrender to competitors. And this success can easily be called the achievement of the "American Dream", because Joe had a starting capital of $ 7.

The founder of bodybuilding died on March 23, 2013 at the age of 92, but his name will remain forever in the hearts of athletes.
