VAZ-2129 - unknown "Niva"

"Niva" - the first Russian SUV, the release of which began in the distant 1977. 30 years of his life this car was quite stormy. He survived several of his own modifications, became a parent for other machines, some of the "children" himself learned new functions. But all these cars united and continue to unite one quality - the 21 series. The first car got the factory number 2121. Specialists will call 21213, 2131 and others, but not all will remember the VAZ-2129.

One of the differences of this car from other "Niv" was its own name - "Cedar". As far as it can be considered official - we will not speak. But even the "Cedar" has its own "child" - "Utiliter". At the same time in some circles the version of "Cedar" is considered to be model 2130, which is also a variety of "Niva". However, in 2129 and 2130 the difference is only inside - they can be confused outwardly. Therefore, in the review, consider VAZ-2129, but a few words will be said about another modification.

History

The first "Niva" appeared on the conveyor belt in April, 1977. Very quickly gaining popularity, this model was produced almost 15 years. In 1993, the developers are changing the external and internal appearance, and a new "Niva 4x4" is emerging from the factory gate. Strictly speaking, the formula for driving on all wheels was used as the first "Niva", and the more famous car called "Niva Chevrolet".

At the same time, AvtoVAZ continued developing side branches based on the all-wheel drive chassis . This became and "Niva" VAZ-2129 - all the same 3-door SUV. Although it was difficult to call it the standard "Niva". This idea came to the factory when a five-door was planned on the basis of a three-door car. For two additional doors you need space. And the designers just lengthened the usual version of 2121. At first it was used only to work out the idea of 2131. But when the car got its outlines - the extended three-door version was decided to be released too. So in the beginning of the 90s the "Niva" VAZ-2129 appeared - an extended version of the usual one.

Modifications

Although this model was for the designers of the transitional from three to five doors, just appeared on the market, this car found its buyer. One of the reasons was that, in fact, remaining "Niva", this car allowed to transport a larger volume of cargo. The second reason was that the model was not serial. It was collected in small batches, so the demand for such a car was increased.

  • Thanks to this public interest, the designers again took up the project VAZ-2129. Modification of "Cedar" was "Utiliter". He received the same code as the "parent", but has an extended cargo hold and only two seats - the driver's and front passenger's. The rear side windows, as well as between the seats and the cargo compartment, were fitted with grills.
  • The next version of this car was model 2130. Externally, the car remained the same 2129, so in some publications it is called 2129-01. Creating this model, designers recalled the 2108, resulting in the 2130 received a back seat from the eight. Strictly speaking, this was the eight, but with all-wheel drive and appearance from the elongated 2121.
  • Modifications include the version 2120 - the first mini-Russian production.
  • Also, several other varieties were produced, one of which can be called VAZ-2129 (pick-up). At its core, it was an open version of the version of the "Utility". In the process of development, this model received the number 2329.

Features

The main feature of the model can be called one - this is an extended version of the machine, manufactured since 1977. The other features are well known to the owners of other "Niv". These include increased gasoline consumption, permanent all-wheel drive, non-disengaging differential and other chips inherent in the car of this brand.

Conclusion

Unlike many western SUVs, sometimes stalled on an equal footing, in Russia a car designed for our realities is produced. In his 30-year history, he grew both in the sense of filling, and in terms of length, becoming a three-door five-door. But very few people know how the five-door model was going to. After all, it was based on an extended version of the "Niva", which came out under the factory number VAZ-2129 and, in addition to the five-door version, launched several more cars of the Volga plant.
