How many submarines do Russia have? Modern submarines of Russia. Submarines of the Russian Navy

Recently, citizens of our country are increasingly interested in the combat capability of the Russian armed forces. Questions on the army are heard on various Internet portals: "How many Russian submarines and surface ships?", "How many tanks and missiles?", Etc. Why did our people suddenly become interested in such a thing, what was the reason?

Lyrical digression

Today it is not a secret for anyone that the Russian president and his team have drastically changed the direction of our country's foreign policy. They are increasingly giving clicks on the nose of the Western powers. Russia's policy becomes more and more firm, it does not bend neither under the US, nor the European Union, nor the IMF. Many Western politicians say that the "Russian Bear" has come out of hibernation and will soon announce itself in full voice. What has changed in the minds of our president and his entourage is difficult to say. Christians tend to say that the last battle of the Apocalypse is coming, and that Russia will become the savior of all mankind. Fans of the Vedic teaching say that the Night of Svarog was over, the Dawn was coming, that is, the time of lies and pretense had passed - the war era had come. We will not say which of them is right, but who is mistaken, perhaps all are right, and they talk about the same thing, they only look at the world from their belltower. Let us return to the government, which step by step strengthens our statehood and sovereignty. One of such programs was the reform of the armed forces of the Russian Federation. In this article we will consider the state of the underwater fleet of our state, the prospects for its development, we will learn how many Russian submarines have and what their combat capabilities are. After all, every person understands that a strong policy can only lead one who has an excellent army behind his back.

How many submarines do Russia have today?

Despite the economic crisis that befell our country in the 1990s, and the emergence of random people as defense ministers in the new century, with all their might to destroy the defensive might of the state, the Russian fleet is still considered one of the largest in the world, Possessing a powerful potential for accomplishing combat and reconnaissance tasks. One of the main components of the Russian Navy is submarines. The question of how many Russian submarines are of concern to many, but it is not easy to answer it. First, let's look at the official statistics of the Ministry of Defense. According to the materials presented to the public, the Russian Navy has 70 submarines. Of them:

  • 14 nuclear-powered ships with ballistic missiles: 10 for the Northern Fleet (SF) and 4 for the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet);
  • 9 nuclear powered submarines with cruise missiles: 4 at SF and 5 at Pacific Fleet;
  • 19 multipurpose nuclear powered vessels: 14 for SF and 5 for Pacific Fleet;
  • 8 nuclear submarines for special purposes - all from the SF;
  • 1 diesel submarine special purpose - in the SF.
  • 19 diesel submarines: 2 for the Baltic Fleet (BF), 2 for the Black Sea (Black Sea Fleet), 7 for the SF, 8 for the Pacific Fleet.

Real figures vary significantly with statistics

70 units of underwater technology - this is pretty impressive, but statistics - statistics, and real life - it's quite another. The above figures indicate that the fleet is armed with 50 nuclear-powered various projects, however, as it turned out, less than half of them are on alert. The remaining nuclear submarines of the Russian Navy are either in reserve or awaiting repair, and their return to service is very, very doubtful. In order not to be unfounded, let's consider the state of the submarine fleet in detail, so to speak, with the transition to personalities.

The most age group

The most "ancient" representatives of the Russian submarine fleet are the four boats project 667BDR. To date, two of them (K-223 and K-433) are serving, K-44 and K-129 are under repair. The probability of their return to the system is negligible, because even those that are involved are planned to be canceled when new boats arrive.

The most numerous class of submarines are multi-purpose projects. In total, the Navy has 19 units of five directions. The oldest of them are four boats 671RTMKK: K-388 and K-414 are in service, and K-138 and K-448 are under repair. The write-off of these submarines is scheduled for 2015.

The basis of the submarine fleet

The Navy includes three of the largest boats in the world - 941 Sharks: TK-17 and TK-20 are in reserve, and TK-208 is used to test ballistic missiles of the Bulava type. Six submarines of the project 667BDRM appear in the Northern Fleet: K-18, K-51, K-114, K-117 and K-407 are serving, and K-407 is to leave the repair docks in the summer of this year.

In addition, nine of the Antei 949A submarines are in service with the SF and the Pacific Fleet, but only four of them (K-119, K-410, K-186 and K-456) were scheduled for repair, and five are either in reserve, Or in repair, and their prospects are very vague.

The basis of the multipurpose boats are the Shchuka-B ships of Project 971. There are eleven units in the Russian Navy, five of them (K-154, K-157, K-317, K-335 and K-461) are on alert duty in SF, two - K-295 and K-331 - in the Pacific Fleet, and the rest are in a non-combatant state, and their repair is under big question. Four more boats belong to the projects 945 and 945A: Barracuda and Condor, respectively. These ships are distinguished by a titanium heavy-duty hull. Two of them - K-336 and K-534 - serve in the SF, and K-239 and K-276 are preparing for modernization and repairs.

As you can see, the real number of Russian submarines is much less than that shown in the report of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The most modern submarines of Russia

Modern Russian submarines - Borey Project 955 - were part of the Navy in 2013 alone. Two of them, K-535 and K-550, are on duty somewhere in the waters of the world's oceans, the K-551 passes mandatory state tests, and one is under construction. It is planned to release a series of eight submarines of this project.

The most modern submarine of our fleet is the K-560 project 885 "Ash". She joined the Navy on December 31, 2013. According to the MO plans, ten such nuclear powered ships will be produced. As you can see, the new Russian submarines continue to flow into the Navy, so there is hope that in the coming years the situation will radically change, and for the better.

What awaits the Russian submarine fleet?

According to Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the Navy until 2020 will receive 24 new submarines. Similar ships of different projects and classes will help to upgrade and raise the combat potential of the fleet to a qualitatively new level. The Ministry of Defense has a clear plan for the development of the underwater Navy for the coming decades. It is divided into three stages, each of which has its own goals and characteristics. The first period is already in full swing and will end in 2020, immediately after it the second one will start, which will end in 2030, and the last one will last from 2031 to 2050.

Despite the different plans of each stage, they all have a common goal: updating the technical base of the Russian submarine fleet and bringing it to the level of world leaders. Let us consider briefly each of the periods.

First step

The main task is the construction of new nuclear-powered ships carrying strategic weapons. After all, the old boats are already approaching the end of life, and soon they will need to be replaced. They are to be replaced by Project 955 and 955A submarines. As already mentioned earlier, until 2020 it is planned to produce 8 boats of this class. After taking action, they will be able to keep more than 200 R-30 "Bulava" missiles on duty at the same time. In addition, the command of the Navy decided to abandon a large number of different types of projects and replace them with multi-purpose atomic-powered nuclear-powered aircraft of the fourth generation "Ash" of Project 885.

Second phase

For reasons of secrecy, details of this period are not made public, it is known only that it is planned to completely replace the outdated park with fourth-generation models and the creation of new projects of the fifth generation.

The third stage

About this period of information is even less than the second. It is known only about the formation of new requirements for submarines of the sixth generation. Perhaps, the project of modular assembly of the submarine fleet will also be implemented, when, depending on the customer's requirements, this or that module is installed, for example, with anti-ship missiles or ballistic ones, etc. Depending on the task, the boat will be assembled, like a designer "Lego".

Historical reference

Officially, the history of the domestic construction of underwater ships has been conducted since the time of Peter the Great (1718). Then the carpenter from the village near Moscow Efim Nikonov submitted a petition to the Russian emperor, in which he proposed a project of the so-called "Hidden Ship". This was the first submarine in Russia. In 1724, tests of this creation were carried out on the Neva River , but they ended in failure, as the bottom of the vessel was damaged during descent, and the author of the project nearly died and was saved only thanks to the personal participation of Peter himself. Nikonov was tasked with correcting shortcomings, but with the death of the emperor, as is often the case, the project was safely forgotten.

Conclusion

To date, submarines of Russia and the United States are the backbone of the world's submarine fleet. To maintain the position, the domestic submarine fleet must be developed and modernized. And to finish this article, I want to quote the Russian Emperor Alexander III (1881-1894 gg.): "In the whole world, we have only two loyal ally - our army and navy. All the rest at the first opportunity themselves will take up arms against us. "
