Representatives with this characteristic are also called philophanes, although collecting music on various media is a striking feature of a music lover of almost any kind.

Music does not bind us

But it often happens that two music lovers can not get along. Music for music lovers is different, because everyone is a separate person. Fans of the style "industrial metal" always take offense at the adherents of "Polonaise" Oginsky or the work of the group "Leningrad" for an absolute misunderstanding of this choice. "I can listen to all these lunar sonatas, although boring, why do not they want to join my music?" - indignant industrial music lover. They can be understood. Music is still that drug: along with the unconditional positive influence exerted on the human psyche, there are many negative facts of infection with music. Listening to your favorite composition affects the hormonal background, stresses recede, as the general level of mood and will to life rises. Even the vessels expand, the blood circulation is accelerated, the memory becomes more stable, the intellect develops. However, not all music and not for every music lover has such an effect. Industrial - industrial, and God - God, so to speak. From listening to unloved music, the effect will be reversed. And this does not mean that only an omnivorous listener can be considered a music lover.

Mutual language

Melomaniacs quite simply and willingly communicate with other people. Tastes, of course, all are different, and this applies not only to preferences for "hog and pig's cartilage," but music in the first place. Even in its purely modern manifestations, lovers of beauty sometimes hold polar points of view on the very definition of "musical." The meloman is different: someone like heavy metal, there are fanatics of club rhythms, and some buy a bundle of season tickets for the philharmonic. And the question: "Who are you?" - "Meloman!" - Each of them will proudly answer. In general, they can find a common language, because it's all music, and every connoisseur of hers does not imagine life outside her mania. Therefore, communication is also possible most often at the level of inspirational information (with a certain amount of culture and courtesy, brought up by the interlocutor education, so as not to ask again: "Dark Trans? Who is this?").

A melomaniac in the old sense of the word - a lover of music in all its manifestations - almost never occurs. But the generality of the subculture, if there is one, unites and unites "in an adult way".
