Rock Festival "Karelian Mor": venue, tickets, description
Recently, DIY-festivals have started to gain popularity. These are special events that do not have strong media support and high-profile sponsors. "Karelian Sea" is an analogue of an apartment in the open air, although locals most often call it a coven. Despite this, to outdoor festivities, residents of neighboring settlements are loyal.
What is the festival?
The festival lasts for up to three days. All this time the guests live in tent camps. All the time outside the performances is occupied by discotheques in the open air and live communication. Many who regularly attend a rock festival are already familiar with each other, so the event is almost a meeting of old friends from different cities.
Features of this event
In 2016, "Moskovsky Komsomolets" called this rock festival dubious, as it was not followed by a loud name of a company. Work and organize the festival people who are not indifferent to music in the style of punk. Information about the organizers is really quite closed, only nicknames and general information are known, everything else can be learned directly at the festival. The meeting place and ticket prices are announced via the Internet a few days before the event starts. On the one hand, this approach to the organization seems questionable, but on the other hand, it warms up the public interest. Only interested people come to Karelian forests .
How groups are recruited
Despite the fact that well-known groups are already striving for the Karelian Mor, the organizers prefer teams that do not fit the definition of "mainstream". This allows visitors to learn new names. In addition, thanks to this approach, an unusual public gathers. Here you will not find strongly drinking young people who wield imperial flags or sing Tsoi to a guitar. The festival "Karelian Sea" is completely unrelated to politics, it is attended by young people who enjoy their age.
Where to buy tickets
The collected funds are used to pay for the things necessary for a musical event: providing sound and light, transfer for groups and arranging a camp. Tickets for the festival are distributed on the spot, no tricks will help to pass for free. One of the five "Morovs" practiced the principle of working out - everyone who came without money, sent to work in the kitchen, in the bar or help in the technical part. Later on this principle was decided to move away, since there were too many people who wanted to rest for free.
How is the event
The action takes 2-3 days. Every day is clearly marked out, but because of being out in the open air, lining is possible. For example, the performance can be interrupted by a storm, and in some cases the musical apparatus simply does not stand the heat on the stage. In addition to performances, it is possible to eat a full vegan lunch or a snack with fast food. For those who are used to relaxing with hot drinks, a bar works, and for the leading sober way of life tea is organized.
Incidents
Unfortunately, mass events can not do without accidents. The most loud case occurred in 2016, when one of the visitors - a girl of 15 years - was found dead in the Ilaksa river. Last time she was seen on the second day of performances, later she disappeared. At the same time all personal belongings and documents of the girl remained in the tent. Parents began to search too late - a week after the "Karelian Sea" was completed. Incidents at such massive gatherings are not uncommon, but in most cases, the guard copes with the identification of thieves or scammers. Also periodically, festivals are attended by representatives of law enforcement agencies.
Another incident related to the event, one can call the death of one of the organizers - Dmitry. In early January, he died in a fire. Residents of Petrozavodsk and the Leningrad region knew the young man as a talented organizer and creative personality. Everybody was invited to the funeral, which took place on January 18, 2017.
Guest Reviews
The disadvantage can be called only two points: very often, visitors lose things (in most cases they are easily found among friends and acquaintances, and also through a group in one of the popular social networks), as well as frequent delays with the time of the beginning of speeches. In 2015, the first day of the festival, the start was postponed to 5 hours, but this did not reduce the degree of fun among the audience.
