Artist in childhood

Alexander Serov celebrates his birthday on March 24, next year he will celebrate his sixtieth birthday. The native land of the artist is the village of Kovalevka, located in the Mykolayiv region in Ukraine. The boy grew up without a father, since he left the family when the son was very young. Mom of the future singer was the head of the shop at the perfume and glass plant. From an early age, the boy began to show ability for music and attended a music school. But none of his relatives took seriously his hobby. Sasha decided when he was fifteen. The work of Tom Jones had an extraordinary influence on his idea of his place in society. The future artist began his career with training at the Mykolayiv Musical College under the Ministry of Culture of the Ukrainian SSR (clarinet class). In the second year he starts working in a restaurant as a pianist. Several times he tried to organize a jazz collective, but his experiments were unsuccessful. After graduation in 1970, Alexander was drafted into the army, but even there he continues to give himself to music: he sings the songs of Tom Jones, plays in the House of Officers. During his service in the army (Navy), he proved himself to be a real fighter, was a division commander, participated in training campaigns in France and Syria, was awarded with diplomas for good service.

After demobilization for two years, Alexander worked in the philharmonic of the city of Krasnodar, from 1976 to 1977, sings in the orchestra at the House of Officers. After a year he plays and sings in Nikolayev in the vocal-instrumental ensemble "Singing Jungs", and since 1981 he is not only a vocalist, but also a leader of several collectives.

Alexander Nikolaevich first arrived in Moscow in 1983. He participated in various competitions and festivals, but his popularity was overtaken in 1987 at a competition called "Intertalant-87", which was held in Prague. Among the participants from twenty-five countries of the world Serov was the most talented and promising, and for the second time in the history of the Grand Prix competition, a Soviet performer was received. As the biography shows, Alexander Serov was not even expected in Prague. Everyone knew that in Moscow at that time there was a terrible bad weather, and the flight to Prague was canceled, so everyone thought that there would be no performer from the USSR. Serov did not manage to perform in the main program, but he flew in and sang two songs in the final of the competition, as soon as the weather became normal.
