Glue "Plitonite B": a review of the material, dignity, use

The adhesive "Plitonite B" is quite common today in the market. It is designed for laying ceramic tiles on the floor and walls outside and inside the premises. With its help, it is easy to strengthen clinker ceramic granite tiles inside buildings, while the rough surface can be made of concrete or reinforced concrete. Among other things, the rough coat can be lime-cement or gypsum plaster, gipsolitovye, pazogrebnevye plates, as well as brick.

The glue "Plitonite B", according to many, is convenient to use, it is easily amenable to mixing with water, plastic, during the work the products do not slip off the vertical bases. This mixture can be used for flooring, in which heating systems are built in. Works can be made in indoor pools, the volume of which does not exceed 50 cubic meters.

Overview of the material

You can buy the described composition in bags of 5 or 25 kilograms. Before starting work, you must remember that the temperature of the glue joint during operation can reach +60 degrees. When carrying out work, the glue joint can be formed up to 10 millimeters in thickness, and the maximum filler fraction is 0.63 millimeters. The mixture is easily amenable to mixing, has resistance to frost and water, and the surface can be used 24 hours after the completion of manipulation. The same period should pass before the grouting of the joints.

Use of adhesive: working conditions

The adhesive "Plitonite B" should be used under certain conditions, among which it is necessary to isolate the exposure of a certain air temperature and the base of the tile within 3 days after application of the mixture. The temperature limit can vary from +5 to +30 degrees. As for the temperature of the mortar mixture during the laying of the tile, it can vary from +10 to +30 degrees.

Substrate preparation

The adhesive "Plitonite B" should be applied to a sufficiently strong base, which is not subject to shrinkage or deformation. The surface must be cleaned from dust, dirt, and grease stains before starting work. It is important to remove all types of paints and glues, you need to remove the peeling elements. Gypsum bases and surfaces that are characterized by high water absorption are lined with this composition. A mortar must be applied only after surface treatment with a primer.

Preparation of the mixture

To prepare the solution, it is necessary to use drinking water, while maintaining the recommended ratio. One kilogram of dry composition should use about 0.24 liters of water. And for 25 kilograms you need about 6 liters. A certain amount of water is metered in advance, where the dry mix is poured. In this case, the liquid must be at room temperature. The glue for granite is mixed for about 3 minutes, this time will be enough to obtain a uniform consistency. In this case, you can use an electric mixer or a drill with a nozzle. The speed should not exceed 600 rpm.

The solution is set aside for 5 minutes, then it is re-mixed, and liquid is allowed to be added, but do not exceed the values indicated above. Use a mortar mixture for 4 hours, but if the room has a high temperature or drafts, the time will be reduced.

The order of work

The glue for granite is evenly applied to the substrate using a smooth spatula. The surfaces of the mixture must be given a comb structure, while the size of the teeth will depend on the type and dimensions of the products. The mortar mixture is applied to the area, which should be faced with a finishing material, no longer than 15 minutes. This is the time of open works. If a dried crust forms on the surface of the applied glue, the solution mixture is removed and replaced with a new one. You can check if there is a crust if you press a finger on the surface. Thus there will be no traces. The tile is laid on the mortar mixture and pivoted into the surface by turning movements. The position of the product can be adjusted within the next 20 minutes.

Recommendations of a specialist

The glue "Plitonite" must be laid with open seams, which are aligned with the appropriate devices by the type of crosses. When facing the heated swimming pools or floors, as well as with the relief height of the back of the tile of 2 millimeters or more, it is necessary to exclude the voids under the tile, trying to increase the adhesion strength. The glue for this is applied in a combined way, that is, on the base and on the back side of the product. On the reverse surface of the tiles you need to lay the composition with a notched trowel, and after - smooth, evenly level the area. It should be noted that the material consumption will be increased by 1.3 kilograms per square meter. It is important to maintain a layer thickness of one millimeter.

For reference

If for your work you used glue for tiles "Plitonite B", then it is not recommended to connect heated floors before 7 days after completion of the manipulations. These time characteristics are valid if the ambient temperature is 20 degrees. Relative humidity can vary within 60%. Before starting the work, the tiles should not be soaked, and the back side is cleaned of dirt and dust. In the course of the work, it is recommended that the master mix the mortar mixture periodically. It is prohibited to introduce water into the already prepared composition.

Consumption

Visiting a building store, you can buy this glue, but before making a purchase you need to ask what the dry matter consumption is. It will depend on the height of the trowel tooth and the length of the largest side of the tile. If the first figure is 4 millimeters, and the second does not exceed 108 millimeters, the consumption of a dry mixture per 1 square meter will be 1.7 kilograms. At a tooth height of 8 millimeters and the length of the largest side of the product from 201 to 250 millimeters, the flow rate will be 3.4 kilograms. If the length of the side of the tile starts from 300 millimeters, and the height of the spatula's tooth is 12 millimeters, the consumption per 1 square meter will be equal to 5.1 kilograms. These figures are correct when the surface is leveled.

Cost and Positive Characteristics

Any construction shop today offers many varieties of adhesives that can be used to lay tiles on any foundations. However, the described composition has advantages, among which: water repellency characteristics, the possibility of adjusting products for a long time, strong adhesion to the surface, resistance to frost and water, and the duration of operation of the coating obtained.

For a 25 kilogram bag, the consumer will have to pay 265 rubles, which, according to users, is an acceptable cost. Glue "Plitonite B", the price of which will allow you to calculate the consumption of the composition, is versatile, because it can be used both inside and outside the premises. Such a wide distribution of the composition has also acquired for the reason that it can be used in tandem with almost any rough foundations, which greatly expands the field of use.
