We are going to rest on the Blue Lakes of the Leningrad Region

The Leningrad region is rich in various natural beauties. Everyone will find a rest for himself. Especially a lot in this area of water. According to various sources in the region there are from 1800 to 41,600 lakes. The difference in the calculations can be justified by the fact that the title "lake" was appropriated depending on the area.

Thus, the Blue Lakes of the Leningrad Region are one of the very many reservoirs in the region. They got their name due to the fact that the oval shape of the lakes and the trees framing it form a kind of mirror in which the sky reflects. In clear weather, the water really turns blue, even azure. Most tourists who visited these places leave only positive feedback about the lake and try to return here again.

a brief description of

The official name of the reservoirs is Lake Marchenkov. Nearby are the Big and the Lesser. Popular among tourists is the Great Marchenkov lake. It is located in the Vyborgsky district of the Leningrad region, not far from the highway "Scandinavia".

Around the lake there is a forest massif consisting mainly of pine. The depth of the lake in the center reaches 25-28 m. Underwater visibility in winter is 7-8 m, and in the summer about 4-5 m. The shoreline is sandy. The blue lakes (Leningrad region) have a floating island, which periodically nails to the shore. This feature attracts many tourists.

Rest on the lake

Marchenkovy lakes are quite popular among tourists. And people come to them both in winter and in summer. In the warm season on a pond rest tourists who love to soak under the sun, as well as children from the nearby children's health camp "Blue Lake". In the summer a large number of people gather here.

The pond is also popular with fishermen. The blue lakes of the Leningrad Region inhabit perch and roach. Sometimes there are crabs.

Lake Marchenkovo is also frequented by diving lovers , especially with the onset of a cold snap, when the bulk of tourists are no longer burning with a desire to swim. For divers, the Blue Lakes (Leningrad region) are quite interesting. In some parts of the reservoir you can find a flooded landfill. Also, professionals have repeatedly found machines and even underwater mines. There is a flooded grotto here.

Floating island is popular. Enthusiasts try to make on this place a real underwater ground in order to maintain the interest of visitors to dive in such water bodies as the Blue Lakes of the Leningrad Region.

At about the same time, those interested in extreme fishing are starting to appear, using underwater guns in their fishery . They say that the catch here is pretty good.

Why so many tourists?

Its interest to come to the lake in winter, fishermen and divers explain basically two things. Firstly, in winter there are no children on the lake, whose safety can be endangered by extreme fishing. Secondly, in the winter on the lake the water is more transparent than in the summer. In the warm season, visibility under the water is reduced due to the flowering of the lake.

How to get to the lakes?

Where are the Blue Lakes, you can easily look at the map. Now we will present several ways how to get from St. Petersburg to Marchenkov.
