How to tie a cardigan with large knitting needles or a crochet?

Why knitters are so excited about the onset of autumn? It's simple - now you can safely get the stock of thick yarn and spokes number 6. Finally, it's time for voluminous hats, vests and sweaters, which can be tied up in the evening. And who among us has not dreamed of creating a fashionable cardigan of a large viscous!

To the same lucky ones who plan to purchase new material, it was doubly lucky, because it's nice to choose interesting strings and immediately start working with them. Farewell, cooking, cleaning and laundry! A woman wants to tie a large cardigan viscous!

Wool or not wool: that's the question

Naturally, in order to get a large canvas, you need to use a very thick thread. On the shelves of stores this is not always, and if you can find anything, you should carefully check the quality. Cardigan large knitting needles is best done from a half-wool. Of course, you can buy a clean coat, but you need to calculate in advance the weight of such a product. Often cardigans take from 600 to 1000 grams. If the model is equipped with a collar and sleeves, then the consumption will be even greater. Now you need to think about how convenient a thing with such weight will be. And how long will it dry after washing?

Helpful sellers can advise acrylic yarn. Their seductive stories serve only their own interests: artificial material does not warm at all (even if the canvas is a few centimeters thick), quickly rolls, and looks, frankly speaking, not so hot.

Selection of yarn

An alternative to 100% wool yarn can be various mixtures of natural and artificial materials:

  • Wool with acrylic (50/50). This is the most common option.
  • With cotton or flax, but the weight will be even greater than that of a wool product.
  • With viscose or silk. This is extremely delicate and high-quality thing, however, very expensive.

If you can not find a thick yarn, but you want to tie a cardigan with a large viscous knitting needles, you can connect 5-6 threads of medium thickness and work with such material. Of the drawbacks - a very high consumption of yarn and considerable weight of the finished product. Alternatively, you can make a very-very long chain of air loops (loosen the thread so ten) and then use this cord as a yarn. True, such work will take a very long time.

Cut cardigan

Given the specifics of the selected material, the knitter must decide on which sleeve will have the cardigan. Of course, you can tie a detail of the traditional shape with the pellet and sew it in a semicircular armhole, but this option has many disadvantages:

  1. Since the yarn is thick, rows and loops will be small. Form a neat, smooth line of pellet will be extremely difficult.
  2. With the reduction of the loops a rough scar will be obtained.
  3. When it comes time to sew details, it will be found that the seams have an ugly and rude appearance.
  4. In the absence of aesthetics, volumetric seams threaten the overexpenditure of the material.

The output is simple and obvious: to tie a cardigan with a large viscous crochet (it will be more convenient to join details here) or to form a seamless web without seams (you can work with any tool).

Fortunately in today's fashion, wide cloaks are unbuttoned, sometimes they do not even provide clasps. In the next paragraph, it will be described how the easiest way to tie a large cardigan cardigan (knit from a sleeve).

A new approach to needlework

There is a method, conventionally called "knitting from the sleeve." Its feature is that the rows are not located across the canvas, but along. That is, work starts with one sleeve, then loops are added, knitting the back and back parts together, then cutting the loops and forming the second sleeve.

Typically, these products have a fairly broad silhouette. The diagram shows a drawing of a pattern of a universal cardigan with several categories of dimensions. The direction of knitting is indicated by an arrow.

The product will look complete if you start with a small bar (for example, from simple posts without a crochet). The sleeve can be made even without expansion.

The designer of the scheme suggests adding loops to form a shelf and backrest not in one row, but gradually. Of course, you can tie a large cardigan viscous and according to your own design, but you need to monitor the proportions of the product.

How to expand the canvas

Let's consider two ways of transition from a sleeve to the basic details:

  1. Right angle. It is formed when the knitter at the end of the penultimate row of the arm draws a backrest loop (the number must be calculated in advance). In the opposite row, she ties them and on the other side of the cloth collects the loops for the shelf. Then you need to knit all these canvases at the same time: back, shoulder (sleeve) and shelf. The same applies to those skilled workers who prefer to work as a crochet, just a chain for the new canvases will be chains of air loops.
  2. Skos. Here the addition takes place in several stages. Often, new loops are introduced at the beginning and end of each second row. That is, in the front rows are added elements, and the purl is tied according to the drawing. When the master has received the bevel of the desired height, she moves to the actions described in point No. 1.

To tie a large cardigan viscous, bevel is optional, but thanks to it the silhouette turns out more interesting.

In general, the same pattern can be used to work in a traditional style. In the photo you can see a long cardigan, crocheted in cross rows.

Variations of longitudinal knitting

An excellent example of the technique described above can be considered the model depicted in the following photograph.

The fabric of the main parts also fits along, and all the rows contain quite a few loops. The difference of this product from the cardigan, connected with the sleeve, is that here the master has to form an armhole. Sleeves are separate parts, they are made and sewed into prepared slots.

In general, to create a similar product is not much more difficult than to tie a cardigan with a large knitted one cloth.

You should also start with a control sample. After measuring it, it becomes clear how many loops need to be typed to knit the first row. The fabric of the backrest and shelves will be solid, its width should be equal to the length of the product (DI). The height of this large detail is calculated as follows: the width of the two shelves is summed with the width of the back.

Feature of the model

The first rows of the cardigan are the center of the detail of the back. The developers used this technique to achieve the symmetry of the product. Thus, at first one half of the back is tied, an armhole is formed and one of the shelves is made. Then the master is taken for the second side of the cardigan and knits the rest of the elements.

To implement this project, you should learn how to type open loops (for example, using a hook or an auxiliary thread).

How to tie a large cardigan cardigan on knitting needles: a simplified armhole

Special attention should be paid to knitting the armhole. As already mentioned, it is extremely inconvenient to shorten loops and perform complex maneuvers when working with a thick thread. For this reason, many designers offer to perform an armhole in a simplified method:

  1. Calculate the width of the back of the finished product (AL) and the length of the armhole (DP).
  2. When knitting the first part of the cardigan, an auxiliary thread of contrasting color is introduced. The distance from the typing edge to the row into which the yarn is inserted is equal to ШС / 2.
  3. With a contrasting thread, a section of the cloth is knit, which is equal to DP. In this case, the distance from the beginning of the row to the first loop made by the auxiliary thread is equal to the width of the shoulder in total with the height of the collar.
  4. After that, the rest of the canvas is knotted.
  5. The second part of the cardigan is symmetrically performed.
  6. Having prepared two identical spokes, gently pull out the contrasting thread. Simultaneously with this action, the craftsman must transfer loosened loops to the spokes.
  7. From the resulting opening, cut out the sleeve of the required length. If necessary, the part is tapered to the cuff or left flat.

Sleeves can be knit in circular rows on the corresponding knitting needles or even cloth, which will subsequently be sewn.

Shutdown

Closing the loops in the last row, you should avoid the excessively high density of knitting. Otherwise, the edge will be pulled off. It is interesting that the edges of the canvas are wavy. Due to this, it is possible not to tie the top and bottom edges of the product. However, if desired, you can make several rows of crochets to form a neat edge or to mask errors. In any case, you will get a beautiful and attractive cardigan of large mating, the photo perfectly illustrates the wavy edge.

Square crochet motif: quick and easy

Those knitters who prefer hooks to work with thick threads are much easier. There are practically the same rules as in the manufacture of products from other types of yarn.

True, do not use too complicated schemes, since they usually contain a large number of rows. When knitting with a thick thread, even the simplest patterns look good, for example, the classic "grandmother's square" or an elementary flower enclosed in a frame.

To tie a large cardigan viscous (the diagram demonstrates this clearly), one should start from the center of the motif and work in circular rows. You should carefully observe all the rules of this knitting:

  1. Start each row with the correct number of air loops.
  2. Finish rows with connecting bars.
  3. If the series ends with an arch of air loops, and the next starts from the center (this or the next arch), you need to move the work loop to the desired location with connecting posts. On the diagram this is indicated by means of black dots and squares.

When the main square is almost ready, you need to form armholes. They are knit in the last line of the motive. In fact, it's just two vertical slits in the canvas (chains of air loops of the required length). Their arrangement is depicted in the drawing of the pattern.

Tying cardigan

After the square and armholes are completed, you should take care of the proportional build-up of the canvas. If you continue circular knitting, the cardigan will have an irregular shape: the collar will be too high and the shelves narrow.

Therefore, the motif is first tied in a circle (shoulder width + collar height), and then move to the straight rows.

The pattern of straight straps is shown in the upper part of the following diagram.

Here you can see how to start right (4a) and finish the series (4c). Also depicted rapport, which knits the main canvas (4c). The lower part of the circuit will help to properly cut the loops when working on the sleeves.

The formation of angles is shown in the figure below.

This article intentionally does not provide detailed descriptions, and does not specify the number of rows of strapping, since these parameters directly depend on the yarn chosen by the master.

Ready-made cardigan should be completed in several rows of columns without a crochet. This will give the product a neat look and will prevent the deformation of the fabric.

Before you tie a long cardigan with a large, viscous crochet, carefully calculate the number of rows of straps. This is due to the fact that the length should be expanded in straight rows, and then knit the shelves.

How to tie a cardigan with large, viscous hands in one day?

Below are listed tips for knitters who for some reason would like to receive a new thing "already yesterday":

  1. Buy the thickest yarn that you can find (without forgetting the quality).
  2. Buy the right knitting needles.
  3. Carry out a control sample. No matter how you want to speed up the process, this stage should not be missed. When working with a thick thread, the error even in one loop will be significant.
  4. Choose a simple pattern. The best look is the ornaments, composed of the front and back loops, though, you can tie the cardigan with large viscous braids. However, this will take additional time and will require more material.
  5. Tie details: back, shelves, collar, pockets and sleeves (those items are planned by the master).
  6. Sew the parts, steal the finished product.

So the cardigan turned out. Of course, it's easier to describe the process than doing all the work, but knitting with thick threads allows you to really quickly see the result of your efforts. This material is shown to all skilled craftsmen who want to experience excitement, delight and pleasure from needlework. In addition, the rapid growth of the canvas - an excellent motivation, so that it can be called a cure for all frustrated knitters.
