How to buy a fan for a computer

Everyone is faced with the problem of heating the computer. Even with idle time, its main elements have a temperature of 50-60 о С, and under load the temperature is even higher. Traditionally, all the heating elements are cooled by fans. But not always one regular element is enough. To reduce the overall temperature in the system unit, you can put an additional fan for the computer. Many buildings have from two to four places, where their installation is provided.

It is quite difficult to choose the fan for a computer correctly - there are a lot of really good copies, as well as frank counterfeits or used coolers. There are several criteria that will help you decide:

  • Pay attention to the material of the hull and wings. It should be of medium hardness. Too hard is sensitive to physical influences, too soft can not work at temperatures above 45 ° C. If you found a computer fan in an aluminum case, you were lucky, most likely, it's a quality product. Grab and run.
  • If you decide to buy a fan on the rolling bearings, then note that its weight should be significant. Even small 60x60 models are always heavy.
  • Carefully inspect the surface of the blades. Good manufacturers have smooth, almost polished ones.
  • Check for tachometer leads, thermal control and emergency stop. If they do not exist, you have a cheap, possibly substandard model. Check also the presence of markings on the power supply wires - good firms always try to describe everything in detail, you will not find such markings on cheap variants.
  • When buying, always ask to turn on the fan for the computer and hold it in your hands. If the noise and vibration level is strong, it is worth looking for more.

Quite often the question arises as to which fan for the computer case is better - on rolling or sliding bearings. It depends on the environmental conditions. If the device is to be used in conditions of high or low humidity, then it is worth choosing a sliding bearing - it reacts less to this parameter. The temperature is different. If it is in the region of 50-70 о С (this is the temperature in the case of a working computer), it is better to choose rolling bearings - the life of their work in such conditions is 3-4 times higher. One "but" - they are much more noisy, and there is such a fan for the computer is much more expensive. So, you have two options:

- purchase a specimen on a rolling bearing with a long service life, but with a rather high noise level;

- buy a fan for the computer on a sliding bearing, but after six months or a year it will be changed (malfunctions will start).

Which of the options suits you best, the one you choose. And more: before you start choosing a fan, carefully study the PC case. Open it and find the places intended for installation of additional cooling elements, determine where you will put it, determine the dimensions of the required model. Good choice!
