Brackets for air conditioning: requirements and design features

The bracket for attaching the air conditioner is one of the most important elements of the split system. Air conditioners, as a rule, consist of one outdoor unit and one or more indoor units. The design of the first does not provide for its direct attachment to the wall. That's why the air conditioner is mounted using special brackets.

Requirements for fastening

Qualitative brackets are subject to the following requirements:

1. The material from which the brackets for the air conditioner is made must have anticorrosive properties or be coated to protect against rust. And in the latter case, it must be resistant to mechanical influences. Otherwise, a small cleavage of the coating will lead to the appearance of rust and the gradual destruction of the metal.

2. You can not change the design of the bracket yourself, for example, drill additional holes in it. So you reduce the safety margin, perhaps to a critical level and damage the protective coating.

3. The fixing must correspond to the weight of the air conditioner.

4. The bracket must only be fastened with quality bolts.

5. Never use self-made brackets or attachments without certification.

After all blocks of the split-system are installed, it is necessary to check the reliability of the fasteners. When turning on, there should be no loosening or vibration.

Main Types of Brackets

Brackets for the air conditioner can be structurally divided into three main types:

- welded corners (welded joint strength 90-95% of the strength of the base metal);

- corners connected by threaded fastening;

- universal fastening with horizontal bar.

Welding brackets are most widely used. They simply produce, and they have a relatively small cost. However, welded brackets for the air conditioner have their own disadvantages: the weld area is susceptible to corrosion, possible twisting due to the lack of additional stiffeners and difficulty in transport.

Universal fastenings and fastenings with a threaded connection do not have disadvantages of welded corners, but their cost is higher.

Still there are supports for the outdoor unit. They are used in cases where the unit is mounted on the roof of a building.

The cost of a set of brackets will depend on its type, type of anticorrosion coating and its dimensions, which directly affect the load capacity. For example, conventional welded brackets for air conditioning, made of high-quality steel and powder-coated, cost from 300-350 rubles. The carrying capacity of such a structure is 40-60 kg, the maximum permissible load is 100-120 kg. A set of welded corners and fasteners with a carrying capacity of 100-110 kg and a maximum permissible load of up to 250 kg. Costs 700-1200 rubles. The cost of the stand for the outdoor unit is about 2,000 rubles.
