Zelenogorsk: sights and interesting places of the city

In the picturesque corner of the Karelian Isthmus 50 kilometers from St. Petersburg on the shore of the Gulf of Finland is the beautiful city of Zelenogorsk. The sights of the city are unique architectural structures, monuments, museums, parks and beautiful lakes. Arriving in this amazing place, every tourist will get a lot of unforgettable impressions. Compared to other suburbs of St. Petersburg in Zelenogorsk reigns a unique atmosphere. Contrary to all climatic shortcomings, it proudly bears the status of a resort city.

What to see in the city of Zelenogorsk? Sights of a religious nature, perhaps, the most impressive. One of these is the Lutheran Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord. Its building was built according to the plan of the Finnish architect Stenbeck. Regular concerts of classical music are held regularly in the church. On the territory of the church there is a small Finnish cemetery. In the immediate vicinity of the temple is a monument to Reconciliation. It is dedicated to all those who participated in the Soviet-Finnish war.

Sights of Zelenogorsk of the Leningrad Region can be supplemented with an equally impressive building. This is the church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. This temple was built in 1880. A bit later a bell-tower was added to it. In the war period, the temple was badly damaged and lost its original purpose. Only in 1989, after the restoration, the first divine service was performed here. The modern building is a multi-domed temple, the outer walls of which are plastered and painted white. It accommodates up to 800 parishioners.

In addition to the architectural structures that Zelenogorsk is famous for, the sights include many museums on its list, the most popular of which is the Museum of retro cars, located in the southern part of Zelenogorsk Park. Here is collected a unique collection of cars of domestic and foreign brands, a variety of models of motor vehicles. In total, there are more than 150 species, each in working order.

If you enter Zelenogorsk along Primorskoe Highway, you can not fail to see the fountain, decorated with a bronze sculpture of a girl with a fish.

What more can you see when you come to Zelenogorsk? The sights of this city will be continued by unique monuments, including the Monument to George Vitsin. It is installed on the central avenue of Zelenogorsk Park. Probably, in one city you will not see the Monument to the Dachshund. The bronze figure appeared in the city in 2002, and later became a kind of symbol of this settlement. No less unique is the Monument to bread, set on Lenin Avenue. It is a granite pedestal in height of 80 centimeters on which lie bronze bakery products. The only one of its kind is the monument "Boots of the Nameless Summerman", which is a forged sculptural composition.

The Leningrad Region, Zelenogorsk in particular, is famous for its numerous lakes. The most popular are the Devil's Lake, Shchuchye, Dolgoe and Krasavitsa. They are all quite clean, located in the midst of pine forests, so they often become an object for a picnic.
