Fractional hunting: classification, dimensions

A shot of hunting along with a bullet and a shot-shot is a shell for the cartridge. It is a small metal balls, although it can have a different shape, for example, cubes. They are used for shooting mostly from smooth-bore weapons for hunting birds and small animals.

Material

Fraction of hunting lead is often with a small admixture of other substances: antimony, tin, arsenic. In different countries there are preferences and rules for its manufacture. In some countries (France, Denmark, Spain, Sweden and others), there are restrictions or prohibitions on the use of any hunting ammunition containing lead. This is dictated by the concern for the preservation of nature.

The English shot of hunting contains about 0.2% of arsenic, which facilitates the process of giving it a spherical shape, making it harder than a shot of pure lead. The quality of English shells is recognized as the best in the world. It is cast from bismuth and steel.

Dimensions of the fraction

The numbers of the fraction indicate its size. When buying a product from foreign manufacturers should pay attention to the country of manufacture. In England, Germany, Russia, the smaller the fraction, the greater the number of its designation. In Sweden, there is another marking - the more pellets, the less their number. The difference between them is determined in 0.25 millimeters of the diameter of the ball.

There are 11 and 12 numbers with a diameter of 1.5 mm and 1.25 mm respectively, but are used very rarely. This shot is good for hunting small birds at close range.

A hunting shot with designations from 0 to 0000 is called a half-card. Crushes with a diameter of more than 5 mm are referred to as grit, it is used for larger game.

Marking of fractions

In addition to information on the size, there is a special marking, indicating the physical characteristics of the product.

Types of hunting shot:

  • Soft hunting - OM;
  • Hunting hard - OT;
  • Sports hard - ST.

Good hunting uses good hunting, it gives great lethal force and better scree. To reduce the process of lead boring, it is sometimes covered with a thin layer of chromium, copper or nickel (galvanic method). To the symbols we add a letter indicating the method of manufacturing the fraction:

  • Rolling - K;
  • Cast - L;
  • Stamped - Sh.

The hardness of rolled steel is 11 kg / mm 2 , and cast - 13 kg / mm 2 . In addition, the package may have one more clarification: a shot of hunting for game species, indicating the distance of the shot. Some manufacturers for the convenience of customers indicate the preferred time for hunting for this or that game (autumn, spring, summer, winter).

Self-made

There are hunters who prefer to make their own shot. The technology is simple, requires caution (not to get burned) and some skill.

To begin with, in the old frying pan in the corner, make a small hole no thicker than the needle. Then chopped lead (a couple of kilograms) is put in the container and put it on the fire (cooker or blowtorch). Below the opening, a metal mug with cold water is exposed.

To make a groove, take a piece of cotton cloth 10 x 3 cm, moisten it with water and fold it into a groove. One end is placed under the hole in the frying pan, the second is sent to a mug of water.

Melting, lead drips onto the gutter and rolls into the water, where it cools, cooling, and takes the form of a ball. The less time a drop of lead will be in the air, the more correct form will be a fraction. This can be controlled by the water level in the tank or by the length of the groove.

When making a shot, the diameter is regulated by the degree of heating of the lead: a large temperature gives a smaller diameter of the balls. It must be ensured that the shot of the hunter is obtained in a spherical regular shape, without tails, fistulas and shells.

Application

To safely hit the game, it must hit a minimum of 4 pellets. And each of them must correspond to 1/5000 carcass weight. The flight speed of the projectile is not less than 150 meters per second. The distance of the shot should not exceed 50 meters.

A large fraction reduces the chances of hitting the game with 4-5 charges, and this can lead to a large number of podrankov. It is better to use a fraction of smaller diameter.

Experienced hunters in winter use shells for cartridges for a couple of numbers larger than in the autumn period. This is justified by the fact that the bird has a denser plumage in winter, and the animals have a podpush.

Classification by type of game

Each number of fractions is used for hunting specific game:

  • Semi-kart 0000 - goose, wolf, roe deer and other medium-sized animals;
  • Half-card 000 - goose, wolf, roe deer and other medium-sized animals (distance not more than 50 meters);
  • Half-card 00 - large bird, roe deer (no more than 35 meters);
  • Semi-card 0 - large bird, hare, fox;
  • No. 1 - hare, goose;
  • № 2 - the hare;
  • № 3 - a duck, a hare;
  • № 4, № 5, № 6 - duck (up to 50 meters), black grouse, young grouse, fox and hare (up to 40 meters);
  • No. 7, No. 8 - coot, duck, partridge, hazel grouse, broccoli brood;
  • No. 9, No. 10 - snipe, hazel grouse, dupel, small cakes;
  • No. 11, No. 12 - quail, a garcon.

A hunting fraction is classified according to the types of game and the hunting time. The number is selected individually by each hunter, but they all adhere to the following recommendations:

  • Snipe, quail, dopel. In August-September, fraction No. 8-10, in October-November - No. 7-9.
  • Diving, mallard. In April-May - № 4-5, in August-September - № 5-6, in October-November - № 3-4.
  • Woodcock. In April-May - № 7-8, in August-September - № 8-9, in October-November - № 6-7.
  • Geese. In October-November - № 1-00.
  • Tears. In April-May - № 5-6, in August-September - № 6-7, in October-November - № 5-6.
  • Grouse. In August-September, fraction No. 6-7, in October-November - No. 5-6.
  • Black grouse. In April-May - № 3-5, in August-September - № 5-6, in October-November - № 3-5.
  • Hare-hare. In October-November - № 3-4, in December-January - № 1-2.
  • The hare is white. In October-November - № 2-3, in December-January - № 2-3.
  • A Fox. In October-November - No. 2-0, in December-January - No. 1-0.

The correct choice of fractions will help to avoid frustration in hunting and will not allow useless and painful destruction of game.
