In 1980, the third generation Ford Escort was released, featuring a transversely positioned engine and front-wheel drive. Specialists Ford did not forget about the versatile person who possessed a luggage compartment with a volume of up to 1200 liters. A year later, a Ford Escort III pickup truck was created and launched. These cars were installed not only gasoline, but also diesel engines.

In 1982, a sports Ford Escort came out with a three-door body. This model was equipped with an injector motor of 1,600 liters capacity, as well as additional spoilers.

In 1984, a modification of the Ford Escort III RS Turbo was released. And in 1986 the company underwent a modernization, which resulted in the appearance of the 4th generation Escort. The main changes touched the bumpers, which became a little wider, the interior and the hood. The variant with a body sedan was called "Orion". Changed and the line of engines - the car was installed gasoline carburetor and petrol injection engines, as well as diesel engines. The release of sports versions continued. Since 1987, cars have been equipped with catalytic converter for exhaust gases.

Production of the fourth generation continued until 1990, then it was replaced by the fifth. Now the car had an updated body and improved engines. On the basis of the Escort of the fifth generation, a pickup, a sedan and a cabriolet were produced. In 1991, a sports version of the Ford Escort RS2000 appeared with a two-liter engine.

The sixth generation of the car came out in 1993. The sedan was significantly upgraded, and it was no longer called Orion. The mechanical part of the modernization hardly touched. In the same year, the Escort with a convertible body came out. But the most powerful modification was the all-wheel drive three-door Ford Escort RS Cosworth, which up to 100 kilometers per hour was accelerated in 6.1 seconds.

In 1995, the last generation Ford Escort was created. The interior and body design was improved , the car acquired more smooth features and a "blown" bumper. Significantly, the list of standard equipment was expanded - airbags and power steering appeared, air conditioning, ABS and much more. The Ford Escort 1997 was equipped with gasoline internal combustion engines ranging in volume from 1,300 to 1,800 liters, as well as diesel engines with a volume of 1,800 liters. And the power of 90, 70 and 60 liters. In addition to the hatchback, modifications were made with sedan, pickup, station wagon and cabriolet.

And already in 1998, in connection with the release of the new Focus model, the Ford Escort production began to decline. Gradually, the creation of new modifications ceased, and in 2000, the last European Ford Escort descended from Ford's assembly line .
