Dry floor "Knauf": shortcomings, reviews, device, stowage technology

During construction work or during the operation of the floor covering, flaws occur, which in the future must be eliminated. Faced with the need to take action in case of uneven grounds, one has to consider options and look for the most appropriate in the way of laying and financial opportunities. For experienced craftsmen and beginners, dry floor "Knauf" is recommended, disadvantages are available, but they are so insignificant that this material is increasingly given preference.

Is the floor to be leveled? Dry screed is an excellent solution!

The modern construction market is rich in materials that can cope with the problems that have arisen. To level the floor, master professionals apply different methods, using novelties that help to correct the defects of coverage even for a novice in the field of repair. Not always weather conditions allow to carry out work with liquid mixtures that require compliance with the temperature regime and sufficient time to dry the substrate. Increasingly, the attention of builders is attracted by the opportunity to use dry mixes as a worthy alternative, including the dry floor "Knauf", which guarantees in a short period of time the repair of the floor covering without excessive financial costs at a qualitatively high level. This material can be used regardless of the time of year.

Have you stopped choosing Knauf products? A sensible solution, but ...

To achieve a perfectly flat surface, buyers choose the dry floor "Knauf". This prefabricated construction of the German manufacturer is the only one in the world where wet processes are excluded. It allows you to use the coating on the second day, and not on the 28th, as with a concrete screed. What is the basis of this?

This is a prefabricated floor from:

  • Gypsum-fiber sheets glued together and displaced along the edges by 5 cm, which forms a fold foreseen for assembling the structure;
  • Fine-grained expanded clay to cover up unevenness (kompavit);
  • A layer of steam and moisture insulating PVC film;
  • Sometimes for strength plywood sheets are laid on gypsum boards.

The rough floor created with the help of a dry mix will last a long time only at observance of all stages of packing and competent carrying out of a preparatory stage of works. The building material is used in closed premises with good ventilation, excluding moisture on the structure.

Dry floor "Knauf": shortcomings and recommendations

Unconditional advantage of the bulk foundation is the reduction of the time costs for leveling the surface, but not every room is suitable for such an option for the organization of roughing. Care should be taken to use the material, because besides the advantages, the dry floor "Knauf" has disadvantages, which it is undesirable to ignore. Easily absorbing moisture, the mixture comes into disrepair. To listen to the recommendations of specialists it is necessary:

1. It is strictly forbidden to lay the floor in damp basements, in the ground floors, where there is an increased level of humidity. It is not recommended to use this coating in bathrooms, bathrooms - this can lead to undesirable consequences, fraught with new repair work and financial costs.

2. Dry screed is appropriate in household premises with little traffic. Bulky massive furniture in the room is undesirable. The base in a private house, apartment, quiet office is ideal for leveling with the help of products of the German manufacturer.

3. The minimum height of the bulk layer should not be less than 6 cm, and better - 8-10 cm. Such a condition is not always acceptable in a room with low ceilings. This aspect must be taken into account by the owners, because this is the height of the rough coat only, and the presence of decorative is also assumed.

4. If moisture gets to the dry floor, the only way out in this situation is to dismantle the coating. But the appearance of fatal mold is possible if the technology of laying the foundation is violated.

5. The disadvantage is the cost of Knauf's products as a bulk screed, because for many owners it is unacceptable. But this is a controversial issue, because you should take into account the absence of dirt and long waiting for the substrate to dry, as with "wet" work.

Preparatory stage: do not miss important trifles

The correct installation of the dry floor "Knauf" is carried out, exactly following the technology. It is worthwhile to approach the preparation of the foundation for the loose floor. For this, the old coating is dismantled, the surface is cleaned of dirt, debris, dust. The existing cracks must be filled with cement mortar, which must dry. For steam and waterproofing, a polyethylene film is deposited. Without this protective coating, there is a further risk of exposing the dry mixture to undesired moisture. It is better to overlap the film, and its edges lead to the walls to the marked level, determining the height where the floor structure ends. The opening must be at least 20 cm. Take care of the strong fixation of the film. Between the screed and the PVC film, a ribbon is laid, the width of which corresponds to the height of the bulk layer.

Technology of laying the dry floor "Knauf"

Having prepared a covering, it is necessary to establish beacons on which the expanded clay is pulled down and leveled. Reiki are attached to the floor. Having made marks of height of the future covering, establish a profile. You can pull the thread or line at the height of the lighthouses. The rail is fixed along the premises from the doors to the window, and the line is across the room, from wall to wall.

We scatter the mixture, but not all, but only on the width of the rule, which aligns the strip. The Knauf dry floor is poured in, the laying of which is done sequentially, in a few squares, because it is necessary to cover the packed mixture with sheets of GVL, so as not to walk along the leveled layer. Pre-cut the inner fold from the side adjacent to the wall.

The claydite bed is poured into pieces and is immediately pulled down by lighthouses. Applying the second sheet, the joints are smeared with glue. The installation of slabs is based on the principle of brickwork, so the next number is determined by the number of whole sheets, and the panel that remains from the trimming will need to start the next strip. As the prop moves forward and the profile is removed, and the formed voids fall asleep.

Councils of Masters

Special professional skills during laying do not require the dry floors of Knauf. Feedback from the masters about the design is positive, but it is necessary to follow the technology and listen to their recommendations to avoid mistakes.

  • Profiles are mounted at a distance not exceeding one and a half meters.
  • Work is done with a respirator.
  • Laying plates start from the door, so as not to break the structure of the surface when leaving the room.
  • To clean the joints during installation, use a paint brush, which resembles the dust formed from the claydite.
  • Joints are glued with PVA glue.

The opinion of owners who preferred the dry floor

When mounting the base, the Knauf dry floor is increasingly being used, the flaws of which fade before its merits, marked by the builders.

The owners of the living space, where the manufacturer's products from Germany were used to level the base, note:

This is the fastest way to eliminate swings and unevennesses;

· To cope with laying can and beginner, you just need to follow the instructions;

· Communication is easily masked;

· The work is done cleanly, without dirt and at any time of the year;

· The floors do not creak, do not deform with time, give coolness in the summer, and in winter - heat;

· Tile, carpet, laminate, parquet board or linoleum are laid on the created structure;

· The coating has excellent sound insulation properties.
