Moscow cinemas: the list of the best, reviews of visitors

Theaters, museums, exhibitions, events in city parks and all kinds of festivals - in the capital you can find entertainment for every taste. However, the most popular are still theaters. Stunning sound, comfortable chairs and, of course, films - modern Moscow movie theaters are very different from those that were thirty years ago, and the ticket today is much easier to buy.

Popular networks

The list of cinemas in Moscow is quite large, but they can be classified according to their affiliation to a particular network.

  • "Formula Kino".
  • "Caro Film".
  • "Five Stars".
  • "The Diamond of the Cinema";
  • "Luxor".
  • "Cinema Park".

In addition to commercial networks, there is a Moscow State Library of Information Technologies (Moscow Cinema) (Zvezda, Saturn and Khudozhestvenny cinema) and Moscow cinemas for children and youth (Beryozka, Vympel and Iskra).

Everything in the Cinema Club

Many Muscovites cinema "Birch", opened in 1962, is associated with childhood. Today, the comfortable room meets all the requirements, including for people with disabilities. There are often events for veterans, families with many children and orphans. Thanks to this policy, "Birch" was in our review.

Residents of the Perovo area, in which the cinema is located, note the affordable prices and modern repertoire. Visitors, in addition to new products, can see performances and creative evenings. On the second floor there is a children's cafe and entertainment center.

The main guests of the cinema are children, for whom various master classes are held, film clubs are opened and much more.

"Karo Film"

Network "Karo Film", like many of Moscow's cinemas, is widely represented in shopping centers. Of the total mass, only one was distinguished before - "Pushkin". This is the largest premiere cinema in Europe, built in the heart of the capital in 1961.

For many years the cinema "Russia" (formerly known as the name) remained the main cinema site of the USSR. Less than ten years ago, the building on terms of long-term lease was transferred to the largest distributor of "Karo Film", which carried out the reconstruction and changed its name. For many years, the main events of the Moscow International Film Festival were organized here, and in the hall for 2056 seats all-Russian premieres were held.

In 2012, another page of history was turned over. "Pushkin" returned the former name and again closed for reconstruction. Today, on the stage of the "Russia" theater, the company "Stage Entertainment" (musical "The Little Mermaid") demonstrates its projects.

"October"

After the closure of "Pushkin" all the functions of the country's main cinema moved to the cinema center "October". The big hall, designed for 1518 seats, is now used for prime, regular rentals, closed-door shows, festivals and ceremonies.

Five years ago in the cinema "October" the IMAX hall was opened. The center on Novy Arbat has long become a favorite place for Muscovites, you can not only watch a movie in one of the eleven rooms, but also have dinner in an Italian restaurant, and have fun in a cozy karaoke bar.

"Formula Kino"

"Formula Kino" by the number of cinemas is considered the largest network in Russia. Moscow, St. Petersburg, Murmansk, Syktyvkar, Novokuznetsk, Krasnodar, Ryazan and Novosibirsk - only 34 modern cinemas.

In addition, 6 rooms allow you to show movies in IMAX format, which gives viewers a unique sound purity, image quality and dive effect.

According to reviews, one of the best in the network is the "Horizon Cinema" ("Frunzenskaya" m.), Which was opened in 1999. Main characteristics:

  • Four cozy rooms (including a business class for 34 seats);
  • Acoustic system ElectroVoice and JBL;
  • Film projectors Christie 2030 (2020, 2010).

Visitors can use the services of a movie bar, as well as try coffee in the "Chocolate House" or the Asian menu in "WabiSabi".

Despite the rather modest size, "Horizon movie" ("Frunzenskaya" m., Komsomolsky av. 21/10) is very popular because of the repertoire. The leadership managed to find a balance between Hollywood blockbusters and conceptual bands. With great success there are broadcasts of various performances and documentaries.

The main drawback of "Horizon" is the lack of parking and not the best service in the movie bar.

"Five Stars"

The best Moscow cinemas, as a rule, are concentrated in the city center. The Five Stars Network is another confirmation of this: the cinema centers in Novokuznetsk, Chistoprudniy Boulevard and Paveletskaya, the only exception is Five Stars in Biryulyovo.

According to the reviews of film fans, the best in the network remains "Five stars" on Paveletskaya (Bakhrushin St., house 25). Until 2001, the three-story building housed the Central Children's Theater. Today, visitors can get to the film show in one of the five large halls that were named after the great filmmakers: Gaben, Ptushko, Chaplin, Roland and Kurosawa. Several cafes and bars, a waterfall, aquariums and a suspension bridge - the original interior will not leave anyone indifferent.

In the morning and afternoon hours there are special sessions for children, on the second floor there is a Children's Entertainment Center, as well as the attraction "Happy Train".

Visitors note the stylish interior and incredible atmosphere. The main disadvantages are:

  • High prices (typical for the city center);
  • Too deep chairs in the hall, which makes the small viewers uncomfortable;
  • Do not accept bank cards.

"The Diamond of the Cinema"

The most modest in our list was the "Almaz Cinema" network, consisting of only three cinemas.

"Diamond Cinema" ("Shabolovskaya" metro station) was opened in 1963 and the next thirty years pleased the fans of cinematography with their repertoire. In the 90 years there was a period of calm, and the halls themselves required repair for a long time. Reconstruction took place in 2000-2001, after which the updated "Almaz" could delight the audience with a modern system of Dolby Digital Surround EX. Today, in addition to the usual chairs in the cinema, there are cozy sofas and VIP-boxes with tables.

Unfortunately, after almost 15 years "Almaz" cinema ("Shabolovskaya" m.) Looks hopelessly outdated. The movie fans note a slightly blurred image on the screen in one of the halls, a malfunctioning sound and ventilation system, as well as scuffed chairs. "Pleasant" impressions are added by the behavior of the staff.

Pros:

  • Proximity to the metro;
  • Democratic prices;
  • Actions and the possibility of obtaining a club card.

"35 mm"

If you are bored with Hollywood insurgents and primitive comedies, then pay attention to the Moscow cinemas with an unusual repertoire. For example, the center of the arthouse "35 mm" at ul. Pokrovka 47/24.

The cinema is located in the Central house of the businessman and consists of two halls. Ambitious cultural projects, festivals and novelties rolled, presented in the original language with Russian subtitles - sometimes here are going to huge lines at the cashier. The original repertoire and democratic prices are compensated for many by the lack of comfort, because the cinema has long needed repair. Perhaps the owners of "35 mm" believe that after the reconstruction the place will lose its charm. However, viewers have a completely different opinion on this matter.
