What is addictive behavior?

Addictive behavior implies any deviation from normal conscious behavior. This is one of the types of destructive behavior in which a person, due to his mental state, moves away from reality. In English, this term means addiction and bad habit. And in other words - the dependence of people on different needs.

Addictive behavior adversely affects the person, at first glance, the subject of dependent behavior has some satisfaction in safety, the illusion of balance. But over time, this very dependence can become stronger, thereby fully embracing and controlling all of his consciousness. In other words, when addictive behavior a person becomes helpless and dependent, in some cases he can not quite resist the addiction.

In this state, people often adjust themselves to the object of their dependence, they try to find a way of life that would correspond to it. How does addictive behavior arise? To answer this question, it is necessary to identify the causes of dependent behavior. Each person reacts differently to external and internal changes. The mood is constantly changing, there are failures and difficulties. And this is where addictive behavior begins, when people are not able to fight their mood swings and failures.

In another way, this can be explained as follows. A person who has not received what he so wished for and strived for so much, is disappointed. People prone to addictive behavior, endure this disappointment extremely painfully, but at the same time they leave their problem, focusing on other points. But the real problem remains, new ones appear, and the dependent person, unable to fight them, again leaves these negatives. All this eventually becomes a habit, and then already a normal model in life.

Thus, addictive behavior means a subject's dependence on specific objects, which can be in different versions:

- chemical dependence, it implies addiction to drugs, alcohol and medicine;

- food addiction, which consists in starvation or overeating;

- Ludomania, when a person constantly needs gambling and computer games;

- Sexual addiction;

- workaholism and music.

All this is not all the list of what a person can depend on, which affects his character and negatively changes the person.

In order not to be dependent on something, it is necessary not to focus on your dependence, attend trainings that are aimed at personal characteristics, on their correction and improvement. Always cultivate and expand your horizons.

Sometimes addictive behavior is confused with the inadequate, but here is a very big difference. In the first case, a person is obsessed with his dependence, and in the second variant, emotions are guilty, which can disrupt the overall development of the brain, which subsequently leads to aggressive behavior. Inadequate behavior is a manifestation of a mental illness that can manifest itself in the form of aggression towards others or, conversely, as closure. But in any case it is necessary to struggle with this, it is necessary to appear to a specialist and undergo a rehabilitation course of treatment. Modern methods of medicine fully provide guarantees of an early recovery.

Also do not confuse codependence and addictive behavior. Co-dependence develops in the young when the child turns 2 years old, it is during this period that he begins to explore the world and seeks independence, if he feels security. But adults can also have co-dependent behavior, which is caused by the fact that a person has low self-esteem, is dependent on other people, constantly seeks approval and does not believe in one's own strength.

In each case, you need your own tactics and your method of treatment, because any abnormal behavior of a person can always be remade into a normal one, it is only necessary to approach it correctly.
