Low self-esteem, its causes and consequences

Low self-esteem can be situational or stable. The reasons for it can be both real human problems in a particular area, as well as fictitious ones. Often self-esteem has roots in the past. Parents, friends, teachers could inspire a person with uncertainty in their abilities. With age, this sensation did not pass, but only became deeper rooted. Low self-esteem is a big obstacle. It prevents a person from developing and realizing himself. As a rule, uncertainty pushes away from him not only success in his personal life and career, but even people who can help. Problems of this kind are involved in psychology. Self-esteem does not increase for a couple of sessions with a psychologist, but as a result of purposeful efforts it can be corrected.

Change the self-esteem means to change the attitude towards yourself in the root. Constant complaints and nagging will never help get rid of the problems that have piled up. From people who underestimate themselves, you can hear that they are not loved and used. And it often turns out to be true. However, the reason for this attitude of people is not in the qualities of the person and his associates, but in self-esteem. People intuitively catch uncertainty and are not averse to using it. If a person does not properly assess himself, then no one will do it for him. Hardly anyone will prove a pretty woman who has low self-esteem, that she is beautiful. And, most likely, such arguments will be useless. You must help yourself. Otherwise, the situation can only worsen. Depression, alcoholism, suicide - all these are possible consequences of an underestimation of their qualities. No motivation for a full-fledged life is out of the question.

Low self-esteem can prevent getting rid of problems. However, we must take it into our hands and decide on this step. It all starts not with praise to yourself, but a little from the other. It is necessary to try, that there should be small, but appreciable progress in affairs. It is noted that people who do not like themselves have a number of problems. One of them is the lack of real steps to achieve the goal (if the goal exists at all). Another problem is the presence of character traits, for which such people despise themselves and constantly feel guilty. Masochism should be left in the past. The first step towards respecting oneself as a person is self-improvement. If there are problems with alcohol, then you can try to refrain from it, if there is a fear of speaking, then you should try at least learn to speak in front of the mirror.

For every move forward you can reward yourself. Self-confidence develops gradually. Just need to pay attention to your strengths, not to the weak. And it's important to stop punishing yourself. There are some things that can not be fixed. It remains only to accept them and live with them. However, most of the time, most problems are solved. A person who has low self-esteem simply does not try to solve them, to find other methods of achieving the goal. You can completely change the perception of yourself in a few years. This requires only purposeful work and motivation. That the motivation did not fall, it is necessary to remember the reasons of dislike for yourself. Any person after several attempts begins to detect such negative moments in his past. These can be problems in the family in childhood, and ridicule in school, and failures with work. Do not let the negative obscure the horizons of life. Any troubles and failures must be treated correctly. Everything falls in life, but those who have the strength to rise win. If you can not change the situation on your own, then it's better to turn to a psychologist. Do not wait until there is a deep crisis and depression, when you can not do without a specialist.
