Discography Black Sabbath - an anthology of heavy metal style

Black Sabbath ("Black Sabbath") - a rock band from Great Britain, founded in 1968. It was with her debut album that heavy metal began. Let's talk about the contribution of the band members to the world's musical heritage. We will touch on the brief history of the team and, of course, tell you what was the discography of Black Sabbath during all 47 years of existence.

The beginning of the path to glory

The Black Sabbath group was formed by four members: Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, Gieser Butler and Bill Ward. Initially, the team was called Earth, and it was under this name that the band released their first songs. Only in 1969 was approved a new name, and the discography of Black Sabbath is counting from 1970. Along with the new name, the musicians also decided on the final stylistic orientation: their songs became original analogues of horror films.

In the 1970s, the career of four British boys went uphill: until 1983, all records released by the team were platinum in America and Britain. Discography Black Sabbath began with the same album and the album Paranoid, after which the team was waiting for the first tour of the United States.

Ozzy's Care

Until 1976, the team went very well. Turning was the album Technical Ecstasy, in the process of work on which Iommi and Osborn had differences. Tony wanted to give the music a melody and add a classic sound, while Ozzy believed that it would be more correct to leave everything as is and continue to play heavy metal. Eventually, the band members decided to change the musical style, and since 1976 the discography Black Sabbath has been replenished with more melodic plates Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die!

In addition to the depressed state of the vocalist, the music was affected by internal disagreements in the team, and the fact that all of its members began to abuse drugs. Album Never Say Die! Was criticized by the press, musicians plunged into the abyss of creative crisis and alcohol, and in 1979, Tony Iommi fired Ozzy Osbourne.

Black Sabbath and Dio, Ian Gillan and others

Ozzie was replaced by Ronnie James Dio, who previously performed with Rainbow. He brought with him not only a new sound, but a completely different mood, and a different stylistic orientation. It is interesting that it was Dio who introduced the rocker "goat" as his signature greeting, and he did it during the work with Black Sabbath. Discography of the group was enriched by two more albums, which later received the status of platinum: Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules. However, with Dio, everything was not so smooth, and after a quarrel with the other members of the team, the new soloist left it.

He was replaced by Ian Gillan, vocalist of Deep Purple. He left in 1984. As later Gillan himself admitted, he did not plan to become a vocalist of Black Sabbath. It just so happened that during the next party with the members of this group it was decided to work together. And Gilan learned about it only the next morning. The musician decided not to give up his decision, because the guys from Black Sabbath liked him very much. Ian Gillan recorded the album Born Again.

In the period from 1985 to 1995 the composition of the group was constantly changing. Ozzy and Dio returned alternately, new guitarists and drummers came and went, and even the famous musician from the band Judas Priest, Rob Halford, was invited to the vocalist's place. Despite the constant changes in its composition, the band has been working on new albums all this time.

Reunion, Heaven and Hell and ... reunion

Black Sabbath Discography (1970-1995) has eighteen studio albums and two concert collections. In 1996 there was a reunion of the band in its original composition: Osborne, Iommi, Butler, Ward. In his homeland, in Birmingham, the team performed with a concert at the Ozzfest festival, and a new musical material from the rock concert was used to work on the album, which received the symbolic name Reunion.

From 1997 to 2004 the band members were engaged in their solo projects. New albums were released from Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi, and in 2005 and 2006 Black Sabbath was inaugurated in the British and American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In 2007, the band released an album containing songs recorded with Dio. After this, a new team of Heaven and Hell was formed, which included Dio, Iommi, Butler, and Vinny Eppis. Ozzy Osbourne reacted to this event extremely negatively.

After Tony Iommi patented the name Black Sabbath, between him and Osborn began a lawsuit for the right to use the label in his musical and concert activities. The dispute was resolved only after Dio's death from cancer in 2010. Ozzy and Tony Iommi signed an agreement, which stated that there was no more disagreement between them.

For some time the fate of the group remained unresolved, but on November 11, 2011 (11.11.11) it was announced the reunion of the group in the original composition. A year later, Black Sabbath's last album, entitled "13", was released, which led the US, followed by the British charts. The return of the band was triumphant, and the album "13" received several prestigious music awards.

Black Sabbath: future plans

Almost half a century of the band's existence, a lot of songs were written, which were included in 24 studio and concert albums. There were also unofficial discs that contained recordings of concert tours, the total number of such records - more than thirty. The team was filmed 11 video clips.

At the moment, something is known about the plans for the future of the Black Sabbath group members. Discography (1970-2013) of the project, therefore, is not over. For several years, she will be replenished with a new album, the work on which is planned to begin in 2015.
