Crane: types and purpose

A crane is a device with which you can lift and move loads of different masses. The main characteristic of any crane is its payload, that is, the maximum weight that it can lift. These mechanisms differ both in terms of scope and design. Briefly, we consider the arrangement of the main types of cranes.

Common to all of them is the presence of a load-lifting mechanism, by means of which the lifting and moving of goods takes place. By type, the crane can be rotary and non-turning, mobile and stationary.

Rotary

They have an arrow that rests on a column (movable or fixed) or a turntable. These devices can be installed on rail and trackless. The latter are automobile, pneumatic and caterpillar. In addition, stationary rotary cranes (roofing or wall mounted) are used.

Non-rotating

A non-rotating crane is usually a fly-type design. In addition, this type includes wall-console mechanisms. Bridge span non-revolving cranes are equipped with a lifting device that moves along rails. In this case, the rails are laid along the top of the opposite walls of the building. In the construction of the wall is a special farm, fixed on the wall of the building.

Main purpose

Cranes are most often used in factories. This is a very useful and sometimes irreplaceable technique. With its help lift heavy loads to a height and move them from place to place. This is often necessary, for example, when installing block foundations and panel walls, for roofing and finishing works. In addition to construction sites, cranes are used in warehouses, for moving goods, in ports, at enterprises. Without a bridge crane, there is not a single mechanical or foundry shop.

Application in private housing construction

Due to high cost of living, it is quite problematic for private owners to purchase even a small personal crane. Rent in this case can be a pretty good alternative. After all, usually on a private construction site, the crane is not needed constantly, but for one-time execution of one or several specific tasks. Sometimes owners of cottages and houses use self-made lifting devices.

These are rather simple mechanisms, which, despite their relative primitiveness, do a good job with the tasks. Sometimes it can be a real home-made crane. Such devices usually have a sufficiently high carrying capacity (300-350 kg) and boom length (6-8 m). It is quite difficult to make such a crane, but it is possible. The only thing in manufacturing is to observe certain safety rules and regulations. The simplest such a crane can consist of an arrow, supports, a counterweight and a load-lifting mechanism.

The lifting crane is a very useful and functional device, without which it is impossible to manage on construction sites, warehouses, factories and in all places where work is performed with heavy materials and objects. This technique can greatly facilitate work and reduce the time of the work itself.
