The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin in Veshnyak appeared thanks to the efforts of the boyars of the Sheremetevs. Fedor Ivanovich, a member of this family, once made a vow that he would build a temple in Veshnyakovo dedicated to the Resurrection of Christ. And he fulfilled his promise: with the permission of Patriarch Joseph built the church. Construction took place from 1644 to 1646. Restructuring of the temple

Later the church was rebuilt many times Cherkassy and Odoyevsky. But the remaining icons were restored a little and hung on their rightful place. The church murals that were created in the 18th and 19th centuries also survived.
