Who is Lucifer - a demon or an angel?

Lucifer. This name is familiar to us from the very childhood. Our beloved grandmothers and grandfathers frightened us, claiming that for all our sins (disobedience to parents) this evil uncle will torment us in hell. We were afraid, we obeyed our parents and grew up. And then many wondered who Lucifer was and why he should be afraid. There are many answers to this question, each of which is interesting in its own way and has its own fascinating history.

If you ask who Lucifer is with the same grandparents, they will most likely tell the old biblical legend. According to this legend, the Lord after the creation of the Earth and everything that is on it, decided to finally rest. But he was lonely, so he decided to create a company - angels. For a time everyone was happy: the Lord rested, the angels played harps. But at some point, one of them came up with the idea that each of the angels could be in the Lord's place. His name was the archangel Lucifer. And he decided to seize power over the world, along with those who listened to him. A war broke out in the sky, and after a while the Lord won, and since he is merciful, none of the rebels perished. They were granted forgiveness, but for their rebellion they were driven out of heaven. They settled beneath the earth, where Lucifer founded his kingdom - hell. Later, all sinners began to be sent there so that the angels turned into devils would tear off their anger at them.

It is noteworthy that the Bible itself does not mention this story, and there is no mention of who Lucifer is. There is a place where Jesus meets the devil in the middle of the desert, but there is no name again. But there is indicated the sign of Lucifer or the devil's number - 666. Well, an explanation of what it means. True, it is so vague that it is not destined to understand his uninitiated person.

By the way, there are a lot of incidents associated with this number. The Bible says that "the number is human." This served as the reason for "fitting" a terrible figure to celebrities and politicians. Lovers of riddles and Bible researchers used numerology and one of the principles of Kabbalah-each symbol corresponds to a certain number. There was no limit to their jubilation when the names of Hitler and Stalin fell under this figure, but when the "stars" of the stage began to fall under him, the current presidents and politicians - the joy became much less. They could not give an unambiguous answer, what is this - a secret message to humanity, meaningful, or the result of a vexing mistake?

There is another theory about who Lucifer is. That he is an angel - there is no doubt, because his name is translated from Latin - "bringing light." Probably someone really did not like the fact that this angel was given too much attention, and then they decided to fix it. So the angel became the devil and acquired the appropriate appearance: instead of the wings covered with feathers - leathery, and his head was crowned with horns. At the same time, most likely, a legend was invented about a great war in the sky. Such transformation began to have success: Lucifer gradually began to be afraid. Or maybe this story was invented just to show how bad it is not to follow the biblical covenants - it is not known. Everything is too vague and it seems that the solution has got lost in time.
