Change in blood pressure in a child

The level of blood pressure in a child is noticeably lower than that of an adult. This is due to the good elasticity of the walls of the vessels, the lumen of which is much wider, and with the fact that the baby's capillary network is larger. In children, the pressure rises gradually, significant changes are noticeable after the first year of life and by seven years.

The norm of arterial pressure in children is:

- in newborns: 66-71 / 55/58;

- by the first year of life: 90-92 / 55-60;

- in adolescence: 100-140 / 70-90.

Closer to adulthood, it becomes the same as in adults.

To ensure that blood pressure values are consistent with reality, you need to be able to measure it correctly. Do this better before lunch, an hour after the active action. The child should be quiet for several minutes, and the procedure itself must be repeated for accuracy several times.

Maintaining blood pressure in a child is normal for the proper functioning of the whole organism. It ensures the supply of oxygen and other nutrients to the blood.

Unfortunately, sometimes there are deviations. The pressure can be either elevated (hypertension) or decreased (hypotension). The causes of such changes at an early age are stresses, unfavorable ecological conditions, improper diet and excessive enthusiasm for the achievements of modern technology (when children spend a lot of time at a computer or TV).

Also, the change in blood pressure in a child may indicate that he has other diseases. Therefore, parents should closely monitor the health of their children. And with the first deviations immediately show the baby to the doctor who will prescribe the appropriate treatment.

Hypertension in childhood, in contrast to hypotension, is much more frequent. Increased pressure is often found in children prone to fatness. There are two forms of hypertension :

- Primary, not having visible appearances;

- secondary, when violations of the internal organs of the child begin.

In the first case, changes in blood pressure are more common in schoolchildren. It is associated with an individual response to various stimuli, which can act different emotions, the presence or, conversely, the complete absence of physical exertion. Also, hypertension can be hereditary.

Usually, when the blood pressure rises in a child, he feels well, so, as a rule, complaints from his side do not arrive.

Parents, to help the child, it is necessary to rebuild his regime of the day, in order to minimize the influence of unfavorable factors. Also, do not forget about proper nutrition (it is important - less to salt food!), And about sports.

Hypotension usually has a temporary nature and often appears after the transfer of a serious disease. It is accompanied by the following symptoms: rapid fatigue, general weakness, headaches, increased sweating during physical exertion.

If serious diseases were not found during the examination, then the arterial pressure may be increased by a gradual increase in physical exertion. Also helps and a cup of coffee, but do not get involved. Medicines are used in the presence of headaches and only as prescribed by a doctor.
