Burning on the fabric. Instead of thread - hot needle

The usual burner, known to many of us since childhood, can be treated with fabric and receive very interesting things reminiscent of the old technique of embroidery "Richelieu", which our grandmother used to design napkins, curtains, linen. Guilloche - burning through the fabric, is much easier and faster than painstaking embroidery, and the result is interesting. Burning on the fabric can also be used to make volumetric applications, when each element of the picture, fixed only in part, creates a "living" relief pattern.

Whoever has ever used a burning apparatus, technically imagines this process. Burning on the fabric is done using a conventional wood burner, but equipped with a special needle for the fabric. The main attention should be paid to the choice of tissue. It must necessarily be synthetic, one that melts under the influence of temperature, and does not burn. Well suited for burning nylon, fastened, nylon, artificial velvet, plashevka, etc. Before starting work, the fabric should be tested. For this purpose, the needle of the burner is carried along a longitudinal or transverse thread. If the trimmed edge is melted and not charred, then the fabric is suitable for guilloche.

To cut the elements for the application, use a template. First, all the details of the picture are cut out of thick cardboard, then put on a cloth laid out on a flat hard surface (the glass surface will fit well) and draw a hot needle along the outline of the template, without interrupting the line. If the burn at the first time did not work, then the template is overlaid again and the entire process is repeated. Obtained individual elements of future applications with smooth, fused edges, which no longer need to be further processed.

Smaller ornate ornaments are burned out using a different technique. To work, you need a backlight, which is placed under the glass. On the glass lay a drawing, made with a black outline on white paper, a cloth is put on the drawing. Burning on the fabric is made on the translucent contours of the picture.

To make the textile product particularly interesting and original, it is made from several layers. The first is decorated with a burnt pattern along the edge, a second layer of another color cloth is put on it, which is decorated with an application, or also with a burnt pattern, in the lumens of which the fabric of the first layer will be visible. Even more interesting is the work when an applique is connected in one product, sequentially burning out each layer of fabric and burning out both layers, after applying the second layer to the first one.

The needle of the burning apparatus must be periodically cleaned of accumulated burning on it with the help of fine sandpaper until the needle has cooled.

Another very interesting use of an incinerator is the decoration of leather products, for example, bags, purses, leather belts.

Burning on the skin

Actually, those who had at least a small experience of working with an incinerator in their childhood, will easily cope with this work. It is important to adjust here, first to practice on a small piece of skin to correctly determine the temperature and force of pressing the tip of the apparatus (there is no need for a special nozzle). The contours of the pattern are applied to the skin with a soft pencil or chalk. A delicate, elegant pattern is burned off with light touches of the needle, wider and deeper - by dotted movements gradually filling the background. The finished pattern, if desired, is colored with colors for painting the fabric.

Burning on cloth and skin is an entertaining activity, with the help of which original interior objects or elements of clothing decor are obtained .
