Bill Murray: An Actor's Biography

Bill Murray (full name - William James Murray) was born on September 21, 1950 in the city of Wilmette, Illinois. Bill's parents are Catholics of Irish descent, there were nine children in their family.

From the very childhood the future actor did not have a calm and obedient character: he was sent by believing parents to a Jesuit school, he was completely not interested in studying. Young Bill preferred to fight with peers and in every possible way hooligan. Also in his school years began his passion for golf.

Entering the medical college, Bill completely failed to correct: regular skipping classes and hobby for easy drugs did not help improve his behavior. Once he was detained at the airport with marijuana in his luggage, as a result of which he was immediately expelled from the school. After the incident, Bill Murray moved to Chicago, where for a while he earned a living by accidental work-outs.

Bill's acting career began with his arrival in the Second City studio. After a while, he received an invitation to the already legendary show Saturday Night Live, where he was to perform with John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. The transfer with their participation won incredible success, and soon Murray was invited to film shootings.

The first films with Bill Murray, relatively more high-profile paintings with his participation, did not have much success, but they made the name of the beginning actor more and more recognizable. In the period from 1981 to 1984, Murray appears, among other things, in "Tootsie", "Volunteers Willy-nilly" and "Blade's Edge."

Bill's first truly remarkable success is the role of Peter Venkman in "Ghostbusters", a classic 1984 film (directed by Ivan Reitman). The film has collected millions of dollars at the box office and was nominated for prestigious film awards: Golden Globe and Oscar.

So, Bill Murray becomes the new star of Hollywood. Photo paparazzi, annoying fans, worsening in his personal life - the reverse side of the glory with which the actor also had to face. The relationship between Bill and his first wife, Margaret, is gradually deteriorating. Murray meets Jennifer Butler during the filming of the film "A New Christmas Tale" and moves to live with his new lover, leaving his wife with two sons. Margaret agreed to divorce only in 1994. By 1997, Bill and Jennifer had two children and a third - on the way. At this time, the couple decided that it was time to get married.

Bill's acting career also did not stand still. The legendary film of 1993 - "Groundhog Day" - only strengthened its worldwide fame. In 1999, the actor was again nominated for the Golden Globe for his role in the Rushmore Academy. Now loud blockbusters with a huge budget ("Charlie's Angels") and films of independent directors ("Broken Flowers", "Lost in Translation") perfectly get along with each other in Murray's filmography.

In 2008, Bill Murray was re-divorced (at this point he and Jennifer had four children), and to this day the actor remains a bachelor.

In the recently released film "Welcome to Zombiland" Murray plays himself, and now fans of "Ghostbusters" are counting on the imminent release of another sequel to the film.
